Fuchsia, Pink, Bright Lipsticks and Lipgloss Perfect for Summer

Trending in the last several months for makeup has been BRIGHT colors. Pretty much every line has several bold shades out- reds, pinks, oranges, you name it. It’s bright, it’s in style. I have indulged in a few (a lot) of lipsticks and glosses lately, but the color family that has really been calling to me lately is pink.

I am a huge lover of pink and always have been, so it’s no surprise that I’ve gathered quite the collection of bold pink lip shades recently. Among the reasons why I love bright lips so much lately is that they’re a super fast way to look really put together without putting much effort in. Because of how bright the lipstick is, I can go really simple everywhere else.

The formula of many of the new bright lip colors is very drying. Mally’s Perfect Bright Lip Kit comes with a lip liner as well as a lip pencil. I definitely feel a need to wear a balm on top of that combination. The combination of liner and lip pencil keeps my lip color rock solid throughout the day. This duo lasted at least eight hours on me before showing signs of fading.
Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Rouge Waterproof Liquid Lip colors also have fantastic coverage and wear. I tried two shades- Rosewood and Pomegranate Pink. The product is double ended- one side contains the liquid lip color and a doe foot applicator and the other side contains a very moisturizing high shine gloss. I find that for the brighter shades the doe foot applicator isn’t very forgiving- the product dries almost instantaneously, so you need to work quickly to correct mistakes if you color outside of the lines. It’s best to let the product dry completely for about one minute before adding the high shine gloss. The texture of the gloss is super moisturizing. I really like it!
I find the best way to wear both the Mally Perfect Bright Lip Kit and the Make Up Forever Aqua Rouge Waterproof Liquid Lip colors is to carry around a tinted or slightly pigmented lip balm with me. This keeps my lips hydrated throughout the day and if there is any fading, helps to color correct so I don’t have any faded patches on my lips. Since the colors are so bright, I fear that if color fades off in a few areas it won’t be pretty!

My eyeliner matches my shirt! Yes, that was intentional! I was also wearing hot pink shoes 🙂
Pictured above is one way that I really love to wear bright lip colors. I am wearing Mally’s Face Defender Foundation in light to even out my skin tone. I really like the way that it looks applied with a makeup sponge like the Beauty Blender. It tends to blur my pores, making them less visible and dries to a matte medium coverage finish. Despite Mally’s website saying it’s not a full coverage foundation, and that this would be a good primer, I do get pretty decent coverage from this, and don’t require additional foundation products when using this. I am wearing MAC’s Pink Swoon Blush on the apples of my cheeks.
For my eyes, I am wearing Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Cream Waterproof Cream Color in shade 13, Warm Beige, which is my favorite. It is a nude sparkly eyeshadow that looks great alone or as a base for pretty much anything you want to layer overtop. It is waterproof, sweatproof, creaseproof, etc. I also put a little bit of the Smashbox Heatwave palette’s darker shades into my crease here for a little definition. For my eye liner, I used Make Up For Ever’s 52L Pearly Green Lagoon just on the top lash line, in a thin line. This liner stays on so well, that I can even wear it on my waterline. The day I took these pictures I wore it for over 10 hours and it showed no signs of wear at all!

My lip shade is the Make Up For Ever Liquid Lip color I had mentioned above in Pomegranate Pink. When I wanted to touch it up later, I used a slightly pigmented Clinique Chubby Stick in Two Ton Tomato. It helped moisturize my lips but didn’t let any patchiness I was developing with wear show through.

Do you like a bright lip in the summer? If so, check out some of the shades I mentioned here. I think regardless of the heat and humidity wherever you live, these shades won’t slide around.
