Figuring out insurance is the bane of my existence. By the time I figure it out it changes and my deductible for things like vision are insane. I wear contacts on a daily basis, but I like to wear glasses at night to give my eyes a break, and occasionally I’ll just wear them all day if I have a cute pair. The last time I checked, my vision insurance either covers a pair of glasses or a box of contacts. Considering my prescription is different in each eye, and I have an astigmatism, shit adds up fast.

I have heard of a lot of these glasses companies online where you could get super cheap frames in your prescription and they are mailed to your house. I don’t know why I never sprang for anything like that considering a pair of frames normally sets me back around $300! Ridiculous, I know. I finally decided to give Firmoo a try. I chose these glasses and it was a really easy process. I got to try them on online with their tool by uploading a picture of myself. The only thing that really tripped me up was measuring my PD (Pupillary Distance), but I was able to easily measure it using this tool. Soon the glasses were on their way to me!
The people from Firmoo had a couple questions for me, and I appreciated that they took the time to email me and ask to be sure before sending my glasses out. My glasses came with a bunch of freebies, including a screwdriver with a keychain, a soft case, a hard case, and an eyeglass cleaning cloth. Glasses that I buy in the store don’t usually come with so many freebies so I was really pleased!
I was surprised by how well constructed these were. For the price, I was expecting something really flimsy, but that wasn’t the case at all! The process was super simple, and I am really happy with the quality.
I know I tried them on online by uploading my picture, but I was still kind of surprised by how they looked on me when I got them in person. My “virtual face” is flat and I can put a picture of the glasses on top of a picture of my face, no problem. Where my nose bridge hits and where these glasses hit me on my face didn’t line up exactly with how they looked online. Online, they were shown a little further down my face and I liked them better that way, but I actually still think they’re kind of quirky and fun, just different than I expected. I also think my prescription is ever so slightly off, but I may have entered it incorrectly.
I get my eyes checked every year and have been wearing glasses since 4th grade, so I have probably had at least 20 pairs of glasses in my life. I wear contacts most of the time, but when I am looking to give my eyes a rest, I will sometimes wear glasses for a couple days in a row. I actually picked these frames out because they reminded me of what Tom Keen wears in the show The Blacklist. We had been watching it on Netflix until the current episodes ran out and now that the show picked back up we are super behind. So DON’T SPOIL ANYTHING FOR ME. But yes, Tom Keen, love him, and his glasses look a lot like these ones.

I’m curious about how much The brand charges! I assume at the eye doc I’m paying for the brand names – they offer Kate Spade etc. I don’t really feel like I need that!
