You need this step in your skincare routine if you wear a mask

I’ve gone through so many bottles of this, and I have yet to give this stuff its own blog post…shame on me! One of my favorite steps in my skincare routine is the Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Salicylic Acid Exfoliant. Super long name, I know! But this stuff is liquid gold and if you are wearing a mask on your face to protect from COVID19, you totally need to investigate this stuff.

I’ve been wearing a mask every time I go in public since March. To me, that means I’m having some pretty ugly breakouts. I also don’t wear much makeup these days because I’m home a ton and not really going anywhere. Since I’m not putting makeup on most days or leaving my house, it’s been easy to be lax with my skincare routine. However, even if I’m been lazy I swear I see a difference in my complexion even after using this stuff one time. If I use it every day, I look like a radiant baby angel, no lie.

Skin Perfecting 2% GHA Liquid Salicylic Acid Exfoliant (ok I’m going to refer to it as Skin Perfecting Exfoliant from now on because that is such a mouthful) was created as an exfoliant for blackheads, enlarged pores, wrinkles and fine lines. It’s gentle enough to use every single day no matter your skin type. It’s more gentle than a face scrub, but it’s basically magic in the way it sheds the gross clogged skin layers and clears out the pores. Immediately after using my skin feels clean and balanced, and even after one use my skin texture is softer and less pimply…I swear my acne shrinks the second I apply this stuff. It’s the strangest/most incredible thing. Oh, and you don’t need to rinse it off. It stays on the skin all day and continues to work its magic.

One thing it reminds me a lot of is the Tarte Knock Out Tingle that I used to be obsessed with. They work really similarly. If you have one you might not need the other, though I do prefer the Paula’s Choice formula because it is less drying to my skin when I use it long term.

I love beauty products that feel like they’re doing me a favor. Like…immediately upon applying if possible. That’s a tall order but the Skin Perfecting Exfoliant is one of those products. Another would be my Hanacure Mask Dupe. Literally a dream how amazing that stuff is too! I use it every time I want baby soft skin.

If you’ve never heard of Paula’s Choice products, you’re totally missing out. Paula worked a beauty counter and got fired for telling the truth to her customers about what products they really needed, and which had fluff ingredients. She went on to formulate her own line of beauty products that work amazingly well, and have a cult following. She uses no nonsense ingredients backed by science, without a lot of the icky stuff people like to avoid, and it’s made in the USA. When I was poking around on her site, I was shocked to read that the Skin Perfecting Exfoliant has been around for 20 years. That’s insane to me because I remember when I tried it a few years I thought this formula was totally cutting edge. Paula’s Choice really nails it with their product line, and to be honest I’ve never tried something of theirs that hasn’t been a rockstar product.

I tend to use this in conjunction with my 3 step non-toxic aloe skincare that I’m also obsessed with. I will share an updated skincare routine soon, that I’ve been loving with all the mask wearing I’ve been doing. Gotta keep the skin in good shape!

Let me know if you’ve tried this before. I can’t be the only person who thinks this is the best stuff since sliced bread. And while you’re at it, tell me what you’ve been buying this year. Too much time at home has made me a master online shopper at Sephora. This is all I’ve bought this year…I’m insane I know LOL. Share with me all your favorite beauty finds in the comments!

Absolutely! It might seem obvious, but if you’re used to wearing makeup on your entire face, it’s time to shift your application to only what’s above eye level. Any potentially irritating or pore-clogging ingredients should be avoided under the mask-covered skin.
