What do you use to add texture to your hair for a messy ‘do?
My hair is thick, coarse, and I don’t like to wash it every day. More like twice a week! I have my go-to hairstyles that are pretty simple and I don’t stray from the list often. I will usually wear my hair wavy the first couple days and the day before I wash my hair, I’ll throw it up into a messy bun or pony. Lately, I’m really liking the look of putting curly hair up and messing up the back a little bit. Tousling my hair with a little is easier when I can put a product in that delivers texture and hold. I typically used a texture clay when I had shorter hair, but I’m finding Moroccanoil’s Texture Clay to be perfect for my wavy-hair-pony-tail days!
Moroccanoil products have been in my routine on and off for at least 7-8 years. I remember when I moved back to my hometown after college, the stylist I started going to used Moroccanoil for the first time in my hair and I was hooked at first use. The scent of Moroccanoil Treatment is kind of a strong and perfumey scent that’s super sweet and you either love or hate it. I happen to love it. The Texture Clay shares this scent and has a blend of argan oil, shea butter, and bentonite clay that makes it perfect for piecey styles. It can be used on short and long hair. It’s not sticky or greasy, and you just need a little dab warmed up between your fingers to cover your whole head. I apply to the ends and work my way upwards, stopping around my ears so the crown of my head doesn’t get too much. This would be perfect for taming bangs or for molding men’s hair too!
The way I’ve been using this is by first putting my hair up in a high, messy ponytail. Then I’ll scoop out a little bit of the product and work it through my next-day curls to make them more piecey and separated. It works beautifully and I love the effect!
