I have dry, sensitive, and acne-prone skin. I’m always looking for a serum that targets these concerns, and bonus if it’s a green beauty product. Also on my skincare wish list is smaller pores, anti-aging, more hydration, dewy skin, etc. I know it’s a tall order but at 31 my collagen production is waning and I can use all the help I can get with skincare. Ideally, I’m looking for something that can help me with ALL of this in one product. As much as I love to try out new products all the time, I don’t like to put more than a few things on my face at one time. Easy does it.
I ran across Volition Beauty as a brand when I discovered my favorite illuminating facial sunscreen. It goes on like water, moisturizes, and takes five years off my age the way my skin glows when I wear it. So naturally, I’m curious about the brand in general now. Volition turns to beauty innovators to create their popular products based upon skincare needs. Keidy (I love that name!) was the genius behind this product. She asked “What if mushrooms were your skin’s next superfood?” I’ve seen superfoods in beauty a LOT in the past few months and I’d say they’re definitely trending. But mushrooms in skincare? Turns out they’re really popular right now and there are a lot of beauty benefits to adding them in!
The benefits of eating mushrooms are that they’re low in calories and high in fiber and unsaturated fatty acids, and they happen to taste amazing with hummus. But they’re great for your skin too. Just a few of the benefits of the Snow Mushroom Water Serum:
- minimizes pores
- supports skin’s natural collagen production
- filters out free radical damage
- calms skin
- heals problematic acne-prone skin
- minimizes fine lines and wrinkles
My first impression? I am super interested in mushroom as a skincare ingredient since it can hold nearly 500 times its weight in water. That’s a lot of moisture! This serum comes in a dropper and you hardly need any. A little goes an extremely long way. It’s lightweight, absorbs quickly, but the hydrating qualities are seen immediately. My skin takes on a glow and looks and feels dewy the moment I apply this. The texture of the serum is silky and creamy but there is no greasiness.
This is a new purchase for me so I’ll be curious what I think about this long term. I love that this is a “Clean at Sephora” brand so it is formulated without Sulfates SLS and SLES, parabens, formaldehydes, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan, triclocarban and less than 1% of synthetic fragrance. Additionally, Snow Mushroom Water Serum is vegan, gluten-free, hypoallergenic, cruelty-free, and noncomedogenic.
Are you curious about mushrooms as a skincare ingredient? I’ll be curious about the long term benefits of using this serum. I’ll be sure to report back if it ends up being a repurchase!
Have you tried anything by Volition Beauty yet? What have you tried and do you like it? Tell me in the comments!
