If you read this blog regularly, you know that I’m totally into wellness and green living and that I’m really into non-toxic fragrance. Lately, I’ve been really into testing out anything that shows up in a Facebook ad, so when I ran across The Nue Co’s Functional Fragrance, I knew I wanted to try it. It’s a perfume that you can spritz on anytime you’re in need of a reset at times of high stress.
Since cognitive function and the olfactory system are closely linked, smells can trigger both emotional and physiological responses. Scent is a quick way to alter your emotional state. The notes in this blend are green cardamom, iris, palo santo, violet, and cedarwood. The vibe is clean, woody spicy, and smoky. I love the idea of a functional fragrance so I was excited to buy this, and opted for the $30 smaller spritz bottle.
Ingredient list: Alcohol, Cardomome Verte SFE, Cardomom, Bergamot, Cilantro, Myhrr Oil, Myrrhone, Orris Firabs (Iris), Violet, Jasmin, Cedarwood Oil, Musk, Palo Santo, Ambrox, Guaiacwood.
Other stats: Non-toxic.100% Vegan. Cruelty-Free. Phthalate-Free. Paraben-Free. Hexane-Free.
Simply put, I absolutely love this scent. My every day fragrance is Hanami but I’m always looking for something delicious I can use on days I’m not wearing that. And The Nue Co really nailed it! They put research in to map the neurological reactions to scent groups showing us how certain scents can make you feel.
Immediately after spritizing twice, I picked up on a strong scent of palo santo and wasn’t sure what I would think. It dried down within a minute to become totally reminiscent of Sandara by Phlur. Over time, I noticed that it stayed smelling like Sandara (another favorite fragrance of mine that is woodsy, sexy, and warm with similar notes). Over time the scent continued to linger and was very comforting. In fact, I fell asleep on the couch wearing it for the first time, but was very in tune to the fact that I was wearing this while I was sleeping. I spritzed it on my forearms and on my neck, and the scent enveloped me like a warm and comforting hug as I was drifting off into dreamland.
Will I buy this again? Probably when I run out! They have many other products I’d love to dabble in as well, including the Sleep Drops and Magnesium Ease. Is this a brand you’ve tried? Tell me about your experience in the comments!
P.S. when you go to purchase, cross reference the price between where you’re buying and their personal website. Prices everywhere else besides their home site look like they are inflated by at least $10! Just letting you know 😀
