The Body Shop Smoky Poppy Collection

All the Spring launches are out in full force! It’s April now and soon it will be warm weather every day! Woot! Of course, I want to share with you a new launch from one of my favorite stores ever, The Body Shop. They released their Smoky Poppy scent, well, a bit ago, but I’m slow to post on it, so you may need to get your paws on it soon, it’s limited edition!

The Smoky Poppy scent is really unique and I don’t think I can compare it to anything else at The Body Shop. The fragrance is described as a captivating blend of sultry spices, elegant florals, and earthy woody notes. I’ll be honest that it’s not my absolute favorite scent from The Body Shop, but I’ll tell you why. This is a unisex scent that a male or female could wear. I went in checked this out in store while I was waiting for my package to arrive, and the saleswoman said that it had the feminine notes with the florals but the masculine notes in there as well with the smokiness of the scent. I typically don’t go for scents that have masculine notes in them and my husband doesn’t normally go for unisex either. I guess he likes the really “manly” fragrances and I like the really “girly” fragrances…I guess we’ll never be able to share!

But to tell you more about the fragrance, I would describe it as smelling a little bit like baby powder, but with some masculinity to it. Almost like if you mixed a men’s musk cologne with a bit of baby powder. It’s really unique and I do like it, just not on myself. It’s a lighter scent that doesn’t stick around forever and ever, but you could make it stick longer by layering it- body wash, body lotion, body butterperfume, etc.

the body shop smoky poppy collectionI do want to show you my favorite two items out of the line. First up, the Smoky Poppy Poppy Seed Scrub. This is a scrub made from (you guessed it) real poppy seeds! They exfoliate but not to the point of being super gritty. The scent is of the Smoky Poppy, and it is enriched with cane sugar from Paraguay for exfoliation. I really love the way this gets rid of the dead skin cells and makes my skin super soft. I love it and it’s the only scrub with poppy seeds that The Body Shop carries.

The Smoky Poppy Body Butter is infused with the extract of oil-rich poppies, and is enriched with Community Fair Trade Shea Butter from Ghana. It’s really some special stuff and I love the way the fragrance lingers for just a little bit and then goes away. If you layer the fragrance in perfume form on top of the body butter, it will stick around longer though!

smoky poppy body butterTwo summers ago, when my oldest wasn’t walking yet, I would put on The Body Shop body butter after after shower over my whole body. I abruptly stopped doing that once she was old enough to walk because my me-time was cut short. I would love to get back into granting myself that luxury though, because my skin feels better all over and my mood feels better when I take a few minutes to pamper myself. My absolute favorite body butters from The Body Shop are Vineyard Peach, Honeymania, and Chocomania, and in that order!

I also love shopping at The Body Shop, because I’m always getting fantastic deals. Check out Groupon sometime because they run specials for them all the time! And often times when I go in to the store, I can get BOGO deals and specials, and the Love Your Body card also comes in handy when shopping there!

Have you tried this line yet? What’s your favorite scent from The Body Shop?

Is it odd that I’m kind of obsessed with the packaging? That flower just pops! no pun intended 😉

I’m not sure I’d love the fragrance either, but I think I would love that scrub! I really like that there’s actual poppy seeds in it!

I’m with you, it doesn’t sound like a scent I would like but the packaging is nice.

I have a friend with a seeds and nuts allergy and seeing poppy seeds makes me think of her. If I used the scrub she’d be on my mind every time.

I’ve never smelled a poppy flower, but I never would guess that baby powder would figure into it anywhere! I’ve tried to stray a few times from my fave Satsuma, but my husband and I both love it so much we always buy more!

I love that they released a Poppy collection now – we’re at the 100th Anniversary of WWI. I haven’t smelled poppy flowers either, though I’ve worn paper versions or pins for Remembrance Day.

I like that scrub, in fact I finished the whole tub fast.

I know what you mean, poppy-scented things always remind me of baby powder and some kind of cologne. I kinda like that though 🙂
