Tarte Spring Launches- Double Duty Beauty & Rainforest of the Sea Collection

I’m always looking forward to a new makeup launch, but I’m so excited that some of my favorite brands lately are spreading their wings and diving into the skincare realm. One of my favorite brands, It Cosmetics, recently came out with two skincare products. I had been addicted to their makeup already, so it was a special treat when I loved the skincare just as much. I was so excited to see that Tarte* included skincare items as part of their spring launch this year. Of course I loved the makeup they came out with as well, so it was an all around great launch! It appears that the Rainforest of the Sea collection is available at tarte.com and Sephora, and Double Duty Beauty is available at tarte.com and Ulta. I tried out a few items that I wanted to share with you so I’ll give you the rundown on my thoughts.

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea and Double Duty BeautyAs part of their Rainforest of the Sea collection for spring, Tarte released Deep Dive Cleansing Gel. It’s described as a hypoallergenic daily facial cleanser that removes impurities and waterproof makeup. So fitting they would release it right before beach season, and it removes waterproof makeup! It’s a clear gel that is really gentle and all around pretty basic. It would work perfectly with a cleansing brush and could definitely be used morning and night. I’ve enjoyed using it the few times I’ve tried it. I actually forgot it at my mom’s when I was out of town last week so I only got to use it for five days, but it worked well for me without drying me out in the time that I used it.

This is just one of three new skincare items Tarte just released. I am eager to try more of their skincare line and was pleased to find that Sephora carries a three piece set called Make a Splash Hydrating Skin Savers that is only $10 that features Marine Boosting Mist, Deep Dive Cleansing Gel, and Drink H20 Hydrating Boost. All of these products are vegan, hypoallergenic, and dermatologist tested. What a great way to try out some new skincare on the cheap!
Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Deep Dive Cleansing GelOf course, the most anticipated part of the Rainforest of the Sea collection for me was the Rainforest of the Sea Eyeshadow palette. I adore the beautiful packaging on these. Every time I see a new release from Tarte, the palette is more beautiful than the one from the last release. It’s so summery and gorgeous to look at, and we haven’t even peeked inside yet!

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea paletteAt first glance online I wasn’t sure if I was going to love this palette. Every shade is shimmer. There is no matte shade, and I am a girl who needs my mid tone brown crease shade. However, each shade in the palette is a neutral, and these are all so wearable that I’ve found myself wanting for nothing with this palette. Most of these shades are in the mid tone range so they’re not so dark that you can’t wear them over your whole lid as a one-shadow look. Each shade is perfectly pigmented and the formula is velvety smooth. This is a really easy no-effort palette for me and I’ve gotten a lot of mileage out of it so far.

The Rainforest of the Sea collection also features two other palettes that I don’t have, the Skin Twinkle Lighting palette, a highlighter palette and the Wipeout Color-Correcting Palette, a cream palette with six complexion correctors.

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea lookMoving on to the lipstick, which I am wearing along with the palette in the picture above. This is an Ulta exclusive and part of the Double Duty Beauty collection. The Lip Sculptor Double Ended Lipstick and Gloss in Renegade, a berry rose, is a perfect every day shade for me. I literally have so many shades like this already in my makeup collection because this is the type of shade I am typically drawn to the most when I am seeking out some color. Can I just say that I love that gloss is starting to trend again? Matte lips aren’t as flattering on me as a little gloss.

Tarte Double Duty Beauty The Lip Sculptor Double Ended Lipstick & Gloss in RenegadeThis is a full coverage, rich, opaque lipstick. It’s also scented with vanilla, which I’ve noticed Tarte has been doing a lot lately with their makeup. I approve! I love that the lipgloss adds a little extra dimension to the mix. For $24 it’s not the cheapest lipstick on the market, but you’re getting two products here so I think it’s worth it!

Tarte Double Duty Beauty The Lip Sculptor Double Ended Lipstick & Gloss RenegadeAnd lastly, I wanted to mention another product that is part of the Double Duty Beauty line. There are two palettes in this collection, Classic Courage and Star Power. I have Classic Courage shown here. We start with an inspirational message on the outer package, “She dreamed, she believed, and she succeeded” which is such a feel good way to start my day! Inside is a range of five shadows in matte and luster finishes as well as a full sized blush. It’s very travel friendly, and for that matter, also perfect for putting together a quick look any morning. Tarte Classic Courage paletteTarte Double Duty Beauty Day and Night Eye and Cheek Palette Classic CourageClassic Courage shades: Rise & Shine (beige), Lucky Penny (rosy copper), Trailblazer (brown), Rosy Outlook (rose gold), Smile on, (dark brown) and Courage (nude pink)

There are some classic neutrals here but they’re pretty remarkable! I love the shade range they picked out for these palettes. To me, each color is special in its own way and instead of having a huge palette of 20 eyeshadows to choose from, they break it down to the five shades I would’ve chosen on my own anyway! I don’t have a look to share with you of this palette at the moment, but below I’ve shared with you what I’m wearing from the collection.

So…what do you think? Are you going to pick up anything from this collection? I couldn’t choose a favorite. If I pick up anything else from this collection it’ll be the Empowered Hybrid Gel Foundation. I tried it in store the other day and I absolutely loved it!
