I have been loving a lot of new summer launches this summer and I’ve also been enjoying some old summer favorites that I pull out every summer. A month or so ago we went out of town and I packed a big beauty bag full of some of the makeup I was getting a lot of use out of. I realized last week that I haven’t strayed much from that bag since I packed it so I thought that since many of these items have become favorites that they were worth sharing! Some you’ve already seen on my blog a bunch of times, and others will pop up later with a full review, I’m sure!
I love beauty products (obviously) and it is a huge rush for me to test out all the new stuff when it comes out. But in a certain way it’s also sort of annoying. Sometimes I wish I was just a normal person who had a favorite foundation of all time that they’ve been buying on repeat for 10 years. I do have a few favorite things that I always have around but for the most part I am always seeking out the next best thing. It’s kind of refreshing for a change to carry around the same favorite items for months at a time and actually see them getting used up.
Recently, I’ve been wearing the It Cosmetics CC+ Cream Illumination almost every day. I tend to grab for this every summer because it has SPF and I don’t have to wear much at all in order to get great coverage. I’m also getting a ton of use out of the Clinique Transparency Powder 3 (review) that I picked up a few weeks ago. Between the two of these I’m getting pretty even coverage for every day. Love! Although I am loving the Clinique powder, I have to admit I have my eye on a Lancome powder at the moment and it’s going on my beauty wish list. Next time I make it to the makeup counter it’s going to be mine!
I’ve been bouncing around from eyebrow product to eyebrow product (it must be my “thing” right now) and one that I’m really enjoying is the Arbonne Shape it Up Brow Pencil in Medium. It’s waxy and has a thicker tip so filling in my brows goes quickly and this really helps to tame them! For my lips, I have been reaching for a lot of different products this summer. There have been so many great new launches out! I am wearing Ruby Ripple by Burt’s Bees as a nice summer red and I am really enjoying the color and formula. It’s a blue based red that keeps my teeth looking white and my smile looking vibrant. The lipstick feels smooth like a balm when it’s going on and it’s fairly long wearing too.
I’d be remiss not to put in a plug for the Cover FX Custom Enhancer drops (read review) that I am completely obsessed with recently. I don’t think a day has gone by that I haven’t used them since I got them! I will often mix just a drop with my foundation when I apply it and sometimes I will go back and add a little Celestial to my cheeks and the high points of my face. SO PRETTY. I am obsessed with this. Right now, I am experimenting using Moonlight as the highlighter and Sunkissed as a liquid bronzer. I am even wearing a little bit on my eyes. I will have a full review on the whole line of these up soon!
For hair, I’ve been keeping things pretty simple lately. I either wear a topknot or I curl my hair if I am leaving it down. I was sent a Tyme iron for review and I’m currently trying to get the hang of it. These are tricky to use and I bet they get a lot of returns, but they offer one-on-one Skype sessions that are super helpful in getting the hang of the product. I get better every time I use it. I am enjoying using Davine’s Melu Hair Shield as a heat protectant. I love that a lot of the active ingredients are natural and it smells really nice. It leaves my hair feeling soft and not fried when I use it before heat styling. Love this stuff! I’m not much of a hairspray girl, but when I curl my hair a lot I do find myself reaching for it. Kevin Murphy Session Hold has been my jam lately. It has a lot of hold, and leaves my hair shiny and not crunchy. Winning all around! I’m trying to up my hair game lately so you’ll be reading more about these hair products in an upcoming post.
I’m wearing the items I raved about in the picture above! I always sound high maintenance but really based upon the way it turns out when I use all of these things, the look is pretty simple. You can see why I love to wear a bright lip- it kind of freshens the whole look without putting in a whole lot of effort! Also- don’t mind my hair. It doesn’t look perfect but as I said, there’s a huge learning curve with that Tyme iron. I think I am getting the hang of it though, and my hair looks better every time I practice with it!
