I was out of town last week and all of the sudden it was Wednesday and I was thinking…wait…Wednesday…CRAP! I forgot to prep this post that I had all planned out. I hadn’t taken the pictures yet but the thought was in my head. Leave it to preggo brain to get in the way so that I miss my regularly scheduled Wednesday preggo post. This week is all about how I stay cool during a summer pregnancy.
If you’ve been pregnant in the summer, and live somewhere with a humid climate you are totally feeling my pain right now. I can hardly stand myself most days because I just get SO hot. I have *luckily* only been sick a couple times my whole pregnancy. One of the times was when the air conditioning was down where I was at. I really get THAT overheated that I start to feel physically ill. For that reason I have a few little must have products in my arsenal that I need to have at all times!
The Body Shop Peppermint Cooling Foot Rescue Treatment has been amazing on my feet. I put this on my feet before bed, and it leaves them smelling nice and gives my feet a bit of a tingle. It feels SO good and kind of “zingy” if that makes sense. My feet also end up being super soft by morning, which is awesome because my feet are usually so dry and rough you could practically light a match on my heel. Gross right?
Le Couvent de Minimes Leg Soothing Fluid is what I pull out when my legs are mildly achy and uncomfortable. This is a good lotion to use when I want a bit of refreshment to my feet and legs. It isn’t a super strong formula, but it is still very relaxing and gives me some relief from the heat. This is meant to reactivate micro-circulation, revive and refresh tired legs, and leave a fresh scent on the skin. I do like the fresh scent a lot and it fades quickly. This is a great treat for my legs!
L’Occitane’s Frisson Verveine Gel for Legs and Feet is the bomb diggity. I reviewed the line here if you want to hear more about it. This comes in a roller-ball applicator and has lots of awesome ingredients to help refresh tired legs. This product has a little more zing and zest than the previous one. The ice gel has cypress essential oil and althea officinalis as a means to help refresh the skin. I also love the scent. You just can’t really be disappointed with L’Occitane- I have yet to find a product of theirs that I am not reaching for constantly as soon as it enters my home.
Crushed ice. Can I say I’m obsessed with something as silly as ice? I know it’s a sign of an iron deficiency, but this has been my favorite way to stay hydrated this summer. I have a slushy/snowcone maker, and it hasn’t left my kitchen counter in months. I chop tray upon tray of ice, and eat it with a spoon. Even my daughter thinks it’s a fun way to stay hydrated. I would eat ice all day long if I could to stay hydrated. I’m so weird, but seriously this stuff is the best.
One last little thing, with these leg cooling products and the foot cream- I like to slather it on right before bed and then lay with the fan blowing on me. I get extra warm at night and find that applying these products before bed helps me drift off faster. I also love them during the day, and to get the full effect I prop my feet up on the ottoman. Now that’s what I call relaxing!
Whether or not you are pregnant, I think you will really dig these products. Check them out and tell me what you think. The Body Shop foot cream has been a long time favorite of mine, pregnant or not!
What are some of your cool down tips or products? I’d love to know about them!
