Spring Break Beauty

We never go anywhere out of the country or warm for spring break. I wish! Last year, we went to Silver Rapids Water Park in Idaho for an overnight and it was fun just to get away. We were in Washington this time last year, so it was about an hour from us. It was a decent water park, but considering I’m used to Wisconsin Dells (home of America’s largest indoor water park), it wasn’t as impressive as it could have been. This year, we have thought about using our tax return to go some place warmer. But alas…responsibilities…so we will probably not spend it on anything fun. A girl can dream! Instead, I’m going to dream of what my beauty bag would look like if I was going to be vacationing somewhere tropical.

I typically pack way too much when I go out of town, which is actually funny, because I never usually wear much makeup on a given day! I’m pretty minimalist but a girl’s gotta have her options. View this post a sneak peak inside my makeup bag and a sneak peak of several products I’m going to be reviewing in the coming weeks. I’ve been trying out some amazing new products that are in here and I know you’ll want the scoop on them!

Skincare is one thing I never skimp on, even when packing. Of course I would bring my old favorite, holy grail, eye cream All About Eyes by Clinique. A serum I’m really enjoying lately is Lumene Time Freeze Ultra Firm Elixir. I’m used to my serums being in the $80-100 range but this one is only $25 at Ulta. I’ve been really impressed with everything I’ve tried from Lumene and this is no exception. The little red beads in the formula burst when you pump the liquid out, and they shimmer. The shimmer does translate a bit to the face, but it’s not overkill and I think it helps distract from my pores a little bit. It also has firming qualities! During the day, I would follow that with Murad Perfecting Day Cream SPF 30 because the SPF and the convenient squeezy tube makes it perfect for travel! At night, I like to use Lancome Absolue Night Recovery Cream. This is a little too rich for my blood as a full size ($192), but I hoard the little samples of it that come in the GWP like they’re going out of style.

jouer matte moisture tintFor makeup, I would totally pack Jouer’s Matte Moisture Tint. I’ve been very impressed with this recently. I wear the lightest shade, Porcelain. I barely have to use any on a beauty blender sponge and it has the most gorgeous velvety finish that starts out sheer and can be built up to more. It covers everything and I just love it. Also, SPF 15 makes it perfect for a spring break getaway! Look for this in a future foundation post in the coming weeks. I am also dying to try the luminizing version!

park ave princess paletteTarte’s Park Ave Princess Contour palette is also SO exciting to me. It’s a bronzer, highlighter, and blush in one. The blush color, Posh, is a pale pink, and ends up working with whatever makeup I am wearing. Park Ave Princess is matte AND waterproof, and is basically my HG shade for bronzer. The highlighter shade is Champagne Gold and is also perfection! This is the best contour palette I’ve tried for fair skin!

lip paint in coral reefI’ve been into matte eye shadows for months, but I’m getting back into shimmer lately. They are undoubtedly easier to wear in a hurry, and require little effort or blending to look perfect. Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream Eye Shadow in 16 Pink Beige is my favorite cream shadow. It’s super shimmery but the undertones of pink and the nude sparkle make it perfect for wearing alone or as a base to anything. If I pack the Park Ave Princess, the bronzer in that palette would make the perfect contouring crease shade for my eyes as well! For lipstick, I’m really digging Laura Mercier’s new Lip Paint in Coral Reef. Not too long ago, I did a post on liquid lipstick. I wish I knew about this then, because I totally would’ve written about it. The color is an intense demi-matte that is totally non-drying. I love how intense it is initially, and it leaves a bit of a coral stain as it’s fading. One of my friends is absolutely obsessed with the formula and did a super in depth review here. Once it fades down to a stain, I have wearing Rouge Bunny Rouge Gleaming Temptations lip gloss over top. It is mostly sheer but has a tint of luminosity to it that makes anything you wear under it come back to life!

oscar blandi hair productsFor my hair, I’m absolutely loving Oscar Blandi products lately. For travel, these mini sprays would be absolutely perfect. The Hair Lift can go into wet or damp hair and gives my hair amazing second day hair texture. That’s the way I like my hair best- a little textured and messy. The Texture & Volume Spray makes everything more piecey too. I spray this in my hair upside down when it’s dry. I should be saving these bottles for travel, but I can’t stop spraying them every day since I love them so much!

laura mercier almond coconut milk perfumeA couple other odds and ends I thought I would mention: I have so many minis from subscribing to sample boxes and little 100 point rewards from Sephora. I always forget to pack them when I travel! I really love Urban Decay Perversion mascara, but especially the fact that the size shown here is a sample. I also ditch my expensive lip balms when I travel and try to bring something cheap so if I lose it, like I always do, it’s not earth shattering. Burt’s Bees Replenishing lip balm with Pomegranate Oil is arguably the BEST lip balm I’ve tried recently and so nourishing. You need it whether or not you’re traveling! I’m obsessed with Laura Mercier fragrances, and I have a small bottle of the Almond Coconut Milk that smells so comforting in the cold months, but I would totally wear year round.

I may not be going on a tropical vacation any time soon, but I packed these in my makeup bag over the weekend when I went home, and got a lot of mileage out of them. Hawaii, I may not meet you anytime soon, but if I did, I know what I would pack!

Are you going on spring break anywhere? What would you pack?

That tarte contour palette looks like I could actually use it. I always see so many that have colors that would look too dark on me.

Samples are the best for travel, right? I know what you mean about hoarding samples of some things I couldn’t afford in full-size. All the fancy foundations and serums! I have loved everything I’ve tried from Jouer, and that Matte Moisture Tint sounds right up my alley.
