Vivoderm’s Zinc Repairing Facial Cream is another fantastic SPF option this summer. It’s made with 15% pure mineral Zinc Oxide, infused with vitamins, chamomile, and comfrey. This facial cream promises to maintain the skin’s moisture while diminishing the visible signs of aging and reducing acne breakouts. Zinc oxide is essential for tissue growth and healing, is a natural antiseptic and antibacterial agent to fight acne, balances the oil production in the skin, and is a natural, non-toxic sunscreen. I really didn’t expect to like this as much as I did. I thought it would be very blah, but it was extremely moisturizing and did improve the appearance of my skin. I think the fact that it’s natural, protects against the sun, AND acne, would make it the perfect option for pregnant women in the summer!
Also, because it contains zinc, you have to rub it in REALLY well because it leaves a whitish cast on your skin. Because of the white, it’s also not the greatest choice if you have professional pictures to be in. In other words, don’t wear it if you’re in a wedding that day.
Original Sprout Face & Body Sunscreen is a product I haven’t tried yet, but I wanted to give them a shout out because I use their shampoo and conditioner all the time on my baby and I love the company. They sent this to me last summer at the tail end of the summer and I never got a chance to bust it open. I will give a heads up once I try this, but for now, here’s the scoop on what this does/doesn’t have:
Free of Phytoestrogens Lavender & Tea Tree, Phthalates, Clove & Musk; No Soy, Gluten, Honey, Peanut or Dairy; No Nanoparticles or Titanium Dioxide; 100% Vegan & Cruelty Free; E.U. Compliant Ingredients; Biodegradable; Parfum Free
I’m excited to see how this performs under makeup, so I plan on using this a bunch this summer!
A couple other products that I’ve found useful if I happen to get a burn include Clinique’s After Sun Rescue Balm with Aloe, and JASON Soothing Aloe Vera. The Clinique product is soothing, has a fresh scent, and feels silky smooth and hydrating on my skin, along with drying fast. It feels wonderful on a sun burn, but it is a little pricier for every day use. JASON’s product is just plain Aloe Vera…no chemicals, and in a pump bottle. It’s pretty no nonsense, and will help soothe your skin if you bake yourself to a crisp by accident.
