Rouge Bunny Rouge- Grown Up Eye Shadow!

I’ve written about a hell of a lot of matte shadows in the last year. In fact, since the end of summer 2014, I think I’ve worn little else. I hopped on the matte band wagon and have used and loved the Becca Ombre Nudes, the Naked Basics 2 palette, and the Tartelette palette. I’m sure I’m missing some too. But now I’m starting to miss having some shimmer in my life. Particularly something that is more of a glimmer or a sheen than a true glitter. I have been longing for some grown up luxury eyeshadows, and I have found a true match with the Rouge Bunny Rouge line.

rouge bunny rouge long lasting eyeshadows 2I have tried a handful of things from Rouge Bunny Rouge over the years, and I’ve really liked everything but I had NO CLUE what I was missing out on until I tried the eyeshadows and pigments recently. Wow! If you are ever searching for a new brand to try out, Rouge Bunny Rouge is top notch and their shadows really deliver. I’ll start by telling you about the Long Lasting Eye Shadows

I am totally in love with these! I actually had picture taking sessions with these a few times when they were brand new, and then started using them, and then realized I wasn’t totally in love with the pictures I took. Although I’ve been using these for a bit now, you can still see they have this gorgeous design stamped in the top, and you can tell truly how much I’ve been using these. These have quickly become some of my favorite eyeshadows.

rouge bunny rouge long lasting eyeshadowThese can be worn wet or dry and I prefer to wear them over this primer. They are creamy/buttery to the touch and have an absolutely gorgeous finish. RBR calls it a second skin effect, and it really does seem that way. The formula adheres to my skin as if the shadow was supposed to be there. I find that a lot of shadows can look crepey or flakey on the lid, and there is none of that in this formula. The most remarkable part of the formula is that I can apply these shadows at the beginning of the day, and my makeup looks exactly the same at the end of the day!

I kind of want to call these my “big girl eyeshadows” because I think they are just lovely and make me feel all grown up. The swatches below remind me of a slightly more glam version of the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette. They’re not matte, but they’re not shimmer- it’s like a slight glimmer/gleam and oh so buttery. If Naked Basics and Rouge Bunny Rouge shadows were sisters, RBR would be the sophisticated older sister that NB always wanted to be just like. See if you agree!

If I had to choose a favorite, I don’t even know if I could. Volcano Fairy-Wren is a charcoal-dust black with silver accents, and it’s different than any other black I’ve used. I barely need a touch of it and it’s so striking. Pictures don’t do it justice. Golden Rhea is also a fast favorite of mine, and I’ve used this one the most of the bunch. I can wear this as my only lid color and the iridescent gold really speaks for itself!

rouge bunny rouge eyeshadow singles 1I typically wear all four at once, tucking the darker shades into my crease. Also, I’m wearing one of my absolute favorite nude lipsticks in the entire world here, also by Rouge Bunny Rouge- it’s called Scrumptiously Devious and you NEED it.

rouge bunny rouge pigments and eyeshadowsSomething that doesn’t get enough credit out of any makeup lines would be pigments, because what do you really do with them? They can be confusing. Rouge Bunny Rouge Loose Glitter Pigment Fire Drops are another thing you need in your life! Described as “fiery lava dust” these are so much fun to play with. They contain a super high percentage of pearl, are very luminous, and have a weightless feel about them. They are creamy and easy to use.

Gosh, I love these so much! In the swatches above, they look somewhat dusty, and honestly when swatched or applied directly from the sponge tip applicator, they are a bit dusty. I enjoy applying these with the sponge to concentrate them right where I want them, then rubbing them in with my finger. I promise they stay put once they are on. I have really enjoyed using these over top of whatever other eyeshadow I have on. They work alone with primer though too!

rouge bunny rouge pigments on faceNight Wind Sailing has been my favorite lately.  I applied it right over top of the eyeshadow I already had on. I applied it with the sponge tip on my outer V area of my eye, then patted it down with my finger tip.

rouge bunny rouge pigments on face 2I wore Embrace of Cashmere on its own with primer the other day and thought it made a great all over lid shade too. Check it out below!

I love the look you’ve done. I’ve only tried Rouge Bunny Rouge lippies (the one you’re wearing is so pretty) but need to try their shadows.

I saw some RBR on Hautelook once, and I was tempted, but didn’t buy. Now I know what to look for next time they’re on Hautelook. I love shimmer and satin finish shadows a lot, too. You look so pretty!
