Pur Minerals is celebrating their partnership with National Geographic Wild as a part of Big Cat Week. Friday, November 29th marked the beginning of the fourth annual Big Cat Week, that includes a limited edition “Untamed Glamour” makeup collection to inspire women to achieve the perfect cat-eye look. The three-piece collection features a leopard print embossed Mineral Glow Bronzing Powder, Black Precision Cat-Eye Eyeliner, and Big Blink Deluxe Mascara. You can find this kit at ULTA Beauty, Kohl’s and purminerals.com.
I love animals, and I love makeup, so in my opinion this collaboration is purrrfect. HA! I made a funny. But really…I think this is really cool. Pür Minerals makeup artists gave cat-eye makeovers in 29 ULTA Beauty stores as well as to National Geographic employees at the Washington D.C. headquarters. A custom TV spot ran beginning in early November as well, featuring models walking the catwalk in the African savannah surrounded by big cats as onlookers.
A portion of the proceeds of the sales of this kit goes to National Geographic’s Big Cats Initiative, dedicated to halting the decline of big cats in the wild through conservation and awareness. In the past 50 years, Africa’s lion population has declined by more than 90%. There are more tigers living in captivity than in the wild. Cheetahs have disappeared from more than 75% of their range in Africa. These are frightening statistics!
Big Cat Week is an extension of the Big Cats Initiative, a long-term commitment by the National Geographic Society to stop poaching, save habitat, and sound the call that big steps are needed to save big cats around the world. It is possible to eventually reverse the disappearance of big cat populations. For information on initiative and how you can get involved, visit
The set includes some great makeup staple items. A bronzer with an adorable embossed cheetah print on the inside AND on the outside, a great liner and mascara. I think this would make the perfect gift for someone for Christmas, or you could even save it and give it to someone in the summer months as a gift. This is one of those gift sets that I think is versatile, because it doesn’t have the word “holiday” on it, and it doesn’t look like it’s for Christmas.
“Dating back to Cleopatra, the cat eye has been an undeniable influence in beauty and is still very much in vogue today. It is with great honor that Pür Minerals was able to offer a modern twist on such an iconic look while benefitting the National Geographic Big Cats initiative,” said Julie Campbell, vice president, Pür Minerals.
Is this something you’ll be picking up? I think it’s so cute and for such a wonderful cause!
