If there’s one guaranteed topic to give me the willies it’s lice. I don’t want to talk about it, I don’t want to think about it, I don’t even want to joke about it! YUCK! Just thinking about it is making me itchy, but I found these great products that are supposed to keep them away from me, so I feel like it’s my duty to share!
So Cozy has come out with a three step system that scares away lice. I have the shampoo and conditioner as well as the lice prevention spray. We haven’t cracked the shampoo and conditioner yet, but we’ve been using the lice prevention spray for a few weeks now. I plan to use the shampoo and conditioner too, but we were using some other stuff up that we just ran out of, and I don’t want my kids to grow up like me, having twenty bottles of shampoo open at all times in their bathroom. LOL. Anyhow, there are some active ingredients that keep the lice away from your kids, and the scent is actually pretty fresh and pleasant, and not at all like I would’ve thought my kids would have to smell to keep those little buggers away.
Tea Tree Oil- One of the most effective natural ingredients demonstrated to prevent head lice.
Rosemary Extract- A natural plant extract that repels lice naturally; rich in vitamins to promote healthy hair and natural shine.
Keratin- Protects hair, helps to increase hair strength and minimize damages caused by brushing and overuse of accessories like barrettes and elastic bands.
Peppermint Oil- Moisturizing and works as an astringent to prevent buildup plus aids in hair growth.
The lice prevention spray is where it’s at. Every morning I spritz a few squirts of this on both of my kiddies, and I won’t lie, I get myself too. I appreciate that it doesn’t seem to build up so even if you are spraying it several times on yourself between hair washings, it’s not going to make you greasy. The scent is strong at first but dissipates rather quickly and it’s a really clean scent anyway!
When I first mentioned I was going to be using this on my kids, my mom was really worried that it would be harsh. I guess once you actually have lice, the treatment has a lot of icky chemicals. The So Cozy products are free from parabens, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic color, propylene glycol, gluten, wheat and nuts. I think even the most sensitive and allergic people would find a match with these products!
Here’s my little beauty and her full head of hair. Her hair didn’t even start coming in until she was at least two so I’m eager to let it grow and keep it free from disgusting little bugs. I’m so glad lice is one less thing we will be worrying about this winter- fingers crossed!
Have you had lice in your household? Did you completely freak out like I would? What products did you use?
