Oui Fresh Beauty Box Subscription Review: February 2019

This post may contain affiliate links.

Last month, I subscribed to the Oui Fresh Beauty Box put out by A Beautiful Mess. These bloggers have been putting out content for years on DIY, home improvement, and more. In recent years, they have made the jump to be more ingredient conscious, and then they released their own monthly beauty box subscription. Curious what I got in my box this month? Read on to check out my Oui Fresh Beauty Box Subscription review for the February 2019 box.

Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo and Conditioner from Phillip Adam — (value $11)

Good shampoo and conditioner is hard to come by. I REALLY love the natural haircare line for color-treated hair that I tried a few months ago. I was going to save this little duo for travel down the line. But I decided to give it a shot instead.

Phillip Adam Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo and Conditioner review

If you’re not aware, apple cider vinegar is a major trend in hair. The pH of ACV is similar to that of the hair/scalp, so it can help bring your hair back to the right acidity. Resealing the cuticle and making hair smooth and manageable are perks of ACV, whereas too much can make the hair brassy and dry. At first sniff, I loved the soft apple scent. The formula smells light, clean, and delicious. Following the directions on the back, I rinsed with the shampoo, and after applying the conditioner, I didn’t rinse all the way.

My hair is long, thick, and wavy and I wash it around twice a week. I liked this formula, but didn’t LOVE it on me. It left my hair feeling a bit on the drier side, like I figured it would. I’ve tried ACV in haircare before and it wasn’t my favorite. I immediately knew who it would be perfect for- my kids! They have fine and thin hair and I’m always reaching for natural products for them. Sure enough, I’ve used this shampoo/conditioner duo on them many times now with great success.

Golden Hour Recovery Cream from Ursa Major — (value $5)

Ursa Major refers to this cream as their “medicine cabinet hero” and once you get this rich, nourishing cream on your face, you’ll know why! The key ingredients in this formula are sea buckthorn, calendula, and black currant. It’s seriously hydrating and plays nice with other products for layering when used on the face. So what did I think? I try to keep my skincare routine simple and consistent these days so I will be using it on the dry patches on my hands.

Essential Face Wipes from Ursa Major — (value $7)

I love face wipes so I was excited to see these in my box. These cleansing wipes are made with bamboo that won’t dry the skin out. Ingredients like aloe and sodium hyaluronate hydrate, while sugarcane and willow bark are natural sources of AHA and BHA and exfoliate the skin. Green tea and birch sap soothe and even skin tone.

I’ve only used these a handful of times and really like them so far. I don’t know if I’ll repurchase since I mostly use a face wipe when I travel, but I think they’re nice.

Hydrating Lip Gloss in ‘Jelly Shoes’ from Oui Fresh — (value $18)

I’m not much of a lip gloss wearer, but I was eager to try the Oui Fresh Hydrating Lip Gloss in Jelly Shoes. Mostly because I’ve never used their natural brand before outside of subscribing to the beauty box! With shea butter, coconut oil, vitamin E, lavender, and jojoba oil, I found it to be comfortable to wear and non-sticky. There is a nice vanilla scent to the product which makes it pleasant to wear. I’ve worn it a couple times since receiving it and now it lives in my purse! The subtle shine and sheer formula will make it perfect for layering over anything.

“Oui” Hair Pin from Daily Disco — (value $10)

I’m not really the hair pin type, but I thought this blinged out clip was really cute. Oui means “yes” in french so it’s cute branding for Oui Fresh as well as meaning something in real life. One of my kids has worn it, and maybe I’ll find a way to wear it in the future. I could see it being cute if I clipped one side of my hair back when wearing beachy waves. We’ll have to see!

Final thoughts?

For $19.99 this was a nice selection of products I might not have tried otherwise. As with any subscription box haul, I don’t know if I would’ve chosen these products on my own, but I take it all in stride and save things for re-gifting if they won’t be things I’ll use.

My favorite item was the shampoo and conditioner. I’ll use them on my kids and then reuse the bottles for travel. I wish the lip gloss was a fun color, but I’ll likely use it to touch up my lips when I’m on the go. All in all, I’m glad to have the intro to some of these brands I’ve not tried like Ursa Major. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for the March 2019 Oui Fresh Box!
