Six all new high impact stain gloss shades were introduced to the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Line this summer. “Dune Generation” stained gloss is inspired by dunes, desert planes, and mirages. The stained gloss combines the high impact color of Lip Tar with a translucent, glossy finish that is ready to wear. As of June 6th, these are available at Sephora.com and OCCmakeup.com.
I have to say it’s refreshing to see something that’s not so typical for summer. Not that I don’t think these shades are summery because they totally are. But everything claims inspiration from the beach and seems to be bright or nude. These are a bit more nude and muted and are so pretty. I love that they are inspired by dunes! I’m in love!
Each shade comes with it’s own little packaging and a mini lip brush, which makes it so convenient. I saved each of the little plastic packets and brushes so I can tote these around in my purse or makeup bag without making a mess.
What’s shown above are the three that I have from the collection, but here are all the shade descriptions from the collection:
Dune– champagne gold shimmer
Off World– pearlescent lilac shimmer
Hedonist– neon pastel pink
Aurora– pink-toned coral
Concubine– warm plum neutral
Nomad– gold-laced maroon shimmer
I think Aurora, Concubine, and Hedonist are absolutely perfect and wearable for summer. Dune is a good shade to use as a mixer to make other shades lighter and more shimmery. Nomad would be a gorgeous shade to help us transition into fall. I love maroons towards the end of the summer.
When I first tried OCC Lip Tars, I couldn’t stand them. They ran and streaked and bled out of my lip lines. I knew I had to be doing it wrong because I couldn’t see what the hype was. I invested in this kit when I decided to give them a second chance and I haven’t looked back! It’s all about application. I find they apply best with a lip brush and add little by little. If it’s starting to look streaky, I keep moving the color around on my lips with the brush and I press my lips together a few times in between doing that. They do take longer than the average lip color to “get right” but the results are worth it.
Considering how wearable these shades are, if you are afraid to dive into Lip Tars, you should make this your first collection. I have been loving each of these shades for every day makeup looks. There’s nothing too crazy here, especially with these three shades!
In terms of the texture of the Stained Glosses, they are liquidy, the formula is thin, and they are sheerer than what I have traditionally seen from OCC. They are not super long wearing, so if you are taking “stained” to mean it will leave behind a stain, you will be disappointed. It goes on glossy, is hydrating, and has an almost minty scent to it that I really like.
