Spring is here in Wisconsin, and so are the new makeup launches! Nars has some really gorgeous spring releases this year and I’m so excited to share them. I was pleasantly surprised by their color collection this year which could create a multitude of different types of makeup looks. Their focus this spring is on luminous neutrals and molten accents.
Velvet Shadow Sticks in Frioul (a shimmering light peacock) and Galice (a soft pewter) are really speaking to me for spring. I love the ways these work as a duo together, and I also love wearing each of them individually smudged out. Both wear beautifully without a primer underneath. I love layering these with a tiny bit more black in my crease to smoke it out even more.
There are two different blush options- a liquid one and a highlighting one. Liquid blush in such an intense shade can be tricky but I found the best way to wear Hot Tin Roof and I’m obsessed. You barely need a pump to have natural-looking color. Apply it too intense and you’ll crazy! I love using my It Cosmetics stippling brush to grab a tiny bit of product off the back of my hand. Blending it quickly is key, and buffing it in well will make it look like second skin. Hot Tin Roof is a shimmering brick red shade, which doesn’t sound like something I’d typically reach for, but it warms up my cheeks in such a beautiful way.
Free Soul is a highlighting blush. It’s a light shimmering pink creamy powder that looks beautiful and flattering on fair skin, either worn alone or as a blush topper. It’s super finely milled so there is no chunky glitter. I love wearing it on my cheeks but it also looks amazing on the inner corners of my eyes or as a subtle eyeshadow. This is an illuminating and gorgeous shade and the formulation has a way of melting into skin in such a pretty way.
There are four limited edition lip shades as part of the spring collection. The Lip Cover formula is an intense, full coverage lipstick that is velvety smooth, moisturizing, and so soft but doesn’t move on me. The finish is not matte and drying like a liquid lip, but it does stay put once it’s on the same as any long wearing lipstick would. The doe-foot applicator allows for precise application. Word of warning – the chemical taste is a bit strong at first swipe, but it does go away fast!
Embrasse Moi: shimmering peach pink- This shade was too light and too warm to be flattering on me, but layered in the center for a bit of contrast with a deeper shade made this beautiful!
Hell Gate: black cherry- This was a gorgeous deep red that not only speaks to me as part of the spring collection, but I would wear this year round. It’s a very Snow White looking shade!
Summer Fire: pink mauve- I love this shade because it’s so easy to wear. This is the one I gravitated to immediately from the collection.
Under Arrest: peach beige- On my fair skin this translates to a super flattering deep peach! I love the way it looks on me.
L-R: Frioul, Galice, Hot Tin Roof, Free Soul, Hell Gate, Under Arrest, Embrasse Moi, Summer Fire
All in all, I was super impressed with this collection, and while I tend to get excited about beauty products and cast them away, Free Soul and Summer Fire have been in the rotation a ton and I can’t seem to get enough!
Now if only Mother Nature would make it stop snowing here in April, I could feel like embracing spring collections a little bit more!
What are you going to pick up from this collection? What is speaking to you the most?
