What’s the best clean beauty setting spray for dry skin?
I have normal/dry skin and when I wear makeup I always reach for a setting spray! I’ve tried many throughout the years with varying results. Some of my favorite setting sprays over the years have been from brands like Cover FX, Pixi, Urban Decay, etc. At Sephora’s VIB sale I recently picked up the Boscia White Charcoal Mattifying Makeup Setting Spray. It has become a fast favorite!
This spray comes in a huge bottle, has a fine mist, and a great ingredient list of botanicals that have absorbent properties. I was pulled in by charcoal as an ingredient because some of my favorite face masks have charcoal. I know it’s great at absorbing excess oil and balancing moisture in the skin.
Whether I’m wearing a little bit of makeup or a full face, this has kept everything budgeproof for me. I like how I can have dewy makeup on and it keeps my makeup in place, but I still get the glowy look. When I have more of a matte look going with my makeup, the spray keeps my foundation looking exactly the same. It is good at functioning in any type of makeup look by keeping my makeup intact and looking exactly like I had planned, whether that’s matte or dewy, light or full coverage.
Sometimes when I use a setting spray it works initially but leaves my makeup looking a bit cakey by the end of the day, almost like the setting spray couldn’t stand the test of time, and whatever sweat or movement my skin had couldn’t stand up to the spray over time. Often at the end of the day, I’ll see that my makeup looks like it’s sitting on top of my face, or it will have settled into my pores funny. Whenever I use this I notice that my makeup still looks poreless at the end of the day. The charcoal seems to continue working over time, and if my skin gets oily during the day, it continues to absorb past the initial spray. As someone with mostly dry skin, I also appreciate that it seems to allow my skin to move, so if I spray my skin with a setting spray and then smile, my makeup will be able to move and my skin can be elastic without everything setting into fine lines.
Some of the ingredients settle at the bottom, so make sure to give this a quick shake before spraying. I never hear about this spray EVER, which surprises me after giving it a try. Between the clean ingredient list (this is marked “Clean at Sephora”) and the amazing results, I am SOLD on this spray.
