What was your last beauty buy?
Yesterday I had some time to myself so I headed to the mall makeup-free with the idea of trying a couple new things. I love going to Sephora with no makeup on and trying out all the new things to see what I like.
The only thing I knew I wanted to pick up was the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation. I have been enjoying Facebook’s new feature, Facebook Live and I’ve been watching Kendra from Citizens of Beauty using the same products on her face all week. She has been raving about that foundation so I knew I had to pick it up. I ended up applying it to my face in Shade 3 then walking around the mall to check myself in different lighting and when I came back I decided to spring for a different shade, Shade 3.25. Even though it is technically darker on the spectrum, it’s less yellow and it matches my skin better now that I have a bit of a tan going on. I’ve been wearing this for a couple days now and I’ve found that it’s unnecessary to set this foundation. It looks like my real skin but better. I’m totally loving the finish! If you’ve checked this out before and didn’t buy it, go back and look again because they just expanded their shade range.
I knew I wanted to grab up a concealer that had a fair amount of coverage but a super light texture. I recently got the new MUFE concealer that fits the bill for that, but I wanted something that had a touch less coverage AND a light finish just in case my skin goes lighter/darker with the sun being out. I tried the bareMinerals Bareskin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer in Medium and had to have it. It goes really well with the UD foundation and touts the ability to hide dark circles, discoloration and other imperfections. I like that it gives me a flawless finish and hydrates my under eye area, yet my skin can still breathe and I think I have some wiggle room on my complexion getting darker yet without needing to replace my shade.
I hadn’t intended to pick anything else up but I noticed that Tarte came out with some new lippies and they get me every time. Just for fun I tried one out without the intention of buying one. I tested out Lippie Lingerie in the shade Exposed. I recognized the shade name as one I’ve owned before and I love a good warm neutral lipstick. The entire shade range is varying neutral shades from light to dark and I’m honestly attracted to them all! If I was to purchase another I’d buy Whisper. The formula of these is velvety smooth, and they are matte but still have some sheen to them. The feel is very different from the typical Lipsurgence formula, and I’m finding that as I wear it during the day it fades consistently into a nice stain. Of course I ended up impulse buying it, but I really do love it so I don’t regret it and I’m going to go ahead and throw it in my purse now because I know I’m going to get a lot of mileage out of it. I can already tell it will be my favorite lippie this summer.
I haven’t done as many posts lately where I share what I buy because I haven’t been buying that much in recent months. A few weeks ago I took a bunch of my makeup and brought it to my mom’s house and I’ve been sorting through and seeing what I have and I’m kind of shocked at the sheer amount of stuff I have! The purchases I have made in the last several months have been ones I thought long and hard about and they are fewer and further between. So far I’m really impressed with the three products I mentioned here, and I can already tell you my next two beauty buys will be the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette and the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Eyeshadow Palette. I think both launch in 5 days and since my birthday is next week that will be my little gift to myself. Woot! If I add another neutral eyeshadow palette to my collection any time soon it will be by Viseart, a super high end brand I’ve been dying to try!
For my makeup look here, I mixed Clinique Sun-Kissed Face Gelee Complexion Multitasker with Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup in shade 3.25 to deepen my complexion slightly. I used Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Luminous Blush in Camellia (review) and Jouer Mineral Powder Bronzer in Suntan. On my eyes, I used Jane Iredale Naturally Matte Eyeshadow Kit, Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner in Black, and It Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara (review). I finished it off with Tarte Lippie Lingerie in Exposed.
Have you made any beauty purchases lately? What were they?
*I bought the three items I talked about in the post, other things I mentioned I used may have been sent for review. All opinions are my own. Affiliate links are in use.
