There’s a new lipstick on the block by Make Up For Ever* and of course I was dying to try it out. I’ve been a fan of their lipsticks in the past but I’ll admit I haven’t picked one up in a couple of years. The last time I purchased one of their lipsticks that I can remember was a gorgeous sultry red a few years ago to wear on New Year’s Eve. I have been a fan of their waterproof liquid lipstick before and have tried several shades of that in the past. So when I heard that Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge was their new lipstick collection and there are 45 shades, I was so excited to see what was in store!
The new packaging, there’s no other way to say it…I LOVE IT. The packaging is very luxurious, and feels very high end. It’s substantial in my hand and there are no details left out. The tube is super heavy and I open it and the brand name is engraved in the bottom of the tube. The tip of these is really narrow compared to most in my collection, but I’m finding it helps me reach the curves of my lips a little better than I might have otherwise. The brand describes this as a tear drop shaped tip and they mention that with this shape you don’t have to worry about using a lip brush, because you can get so precise of an application.
The range contains two finishes- 31 lustrous creams and 14 velvety mattes. I adore the shades that I got and I already found a new favorite nude lipstick from the bunch! These are all really high in pigmentation and very long wearing. These actually have 25% more pigmentation than the Rouge Artist Intense, their last formulation of lipstick. You aren’t getting wimpy color payoff here! I am finding that these apply beautifully and feel so soft and smooth on my lips, and I can even eat and drink with these on. While they fade slightly, they’re still very much there. They are very long wearing and they hold up amazingly!
The shades I have are (L-R): C107 (Mocha Beige- Satin), C108 (Hazel Beige- Satin), C407 (Black Red- Satin), C503 (Mauve Violet- Satin) and M400 (not seeing it on Sephora’s page but it looks close to M401 which is a LE shade Hot Red-Matte).
I’ve gotten the most mileage by far out of C107 Mocha Beige. It is a lovely nude shade on me and goes really well with everything. I’ve been wearing really minimal makeup on an every day basis lately and I find this so easy to wipe on and forget about when I go about my business.
In this picture, I am wearing C107 that I just reapplied at the end of the day. A lot of times when I take makeup pictures for my blog, it’s at the end of the day and I’m applying something quick before I run an errand and I’ve already been testing it out and I want to show you. The night I slapped this on, I touched up my under eye concealer and bronzer and swiped a little bit of this freaking amazing highlighter I am dying over and gave my eyelashes a quick curl. I love that makeup gives me a little boost when I feel like I need it and I especially love products that I can rely on to help me look good in a hurry.
Have you seen these in store yet? I am thinking ahead to fall right now (I can’t help it- I’m due in 9 weeks!) and I know I’m going to be getting some mileage out of C407 for a vampy lip color and C108 on days I am feeling a maple brown lip. It’s not been hard to fantasize about fall this week as Wisconsin has 90 degree or higher temps forecasted for all week!
