A couple years ago when I was pregnant with Jocelyn was when I first started investigating skincare tools. I was certain that the answer to my hormonal skin woes was the Clarisonic. I used it and swore by it for a couple years, but since our move back to Wisconsin I’ve barely touched it. I had tried out a couple new and pricey brush heads for my Clarisonic and they weren’t what I had pictured. Rather than buying replacements again, I just set it aside and ended up forgetting about it. Flash forward about a year and suddenly I realized I haven’t used a skincare tool in almost a year! Enter Foreo LUNA for Combination skin.
The Foreo Luna is a silicone facial brush that uses both T-sonic pulsations for deep and gentle cleansing, and lower-frequency pulsations to reduce the signs of aging. The brush surface on the Combination Skin’s model features up to 80 percent of thinner silicone touch-points for gentle cleansing, with two additional waves of thicker touch-points for cleansing oily patches. The anti aging surface on the reverse side consists of a series of concentric silicone waves. The LUNA reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and leaves the skin looking and feeling firmer and more elastic. It removes dead skin cells and unclogs pores of dirt, oil, and makeup reside, while enhancing the absorption of your favorite skincare products.
This is a very unique brush, and I find myself liking it even more than I liked the Clarisonic! I was so certain I needed fancy heads that only last for a couple months, but I can already see that this is so much more economical and useful for me. As you can see, there are two sides. One side has the cleansing abilities and one side has waves that are meant for reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
It fits nicely in my hand, and I’m able to decide if I want to push the + sign for more vibrations or the – sign for less. I find that it works really well with most of my cleansers. I probably wouldn’t use an exfoliator with this, but my Murad Time Release Acne cleanser is a perfect match for the Foreo.
I keep finding myself comparing this to the Clarisonic, but I really do like it better. The heads on the Clarisonic would get yucky quickly, but this never needs a new head. There are different models available depending on your skin type, and once you buy it, there is no further investment. This is just so much more hygienic. It took me a couple tries to figure out exactly how hard I want to push on my face with this, and exactly how I like to move the brush, but you’ll have that type of experimentation any time you start using something new!
I definitely think it’s helped my complexion. I’ve had a few breakouts here and there this summer due to falling asleep with makeup on (I know, yuck!) but I’ve been able to get a really deep cleanse with the Foreo LUNA without stripping my skin and drying my face out. It is definitely more of a clean feeling than I get with just my hands and cleanser.
I will admit the anti-aging side didn’t really do anything for me. In its defense, I don’t have any noticeable fine lines or wrinkles yet so there’s not much to work on there. When my skin is super dry in the winter, I may try and work my serums in with that side, and I’m guessing I may see a slight difference in my hydration level if the anti-aging side helps with absorption! We’ll have to see.
So far, I’ve only had to charge this once in the several weeks that I’ve had it. It comes with a charger for when I need it and a two- year warranty. I’m glad they stand behind their product! I have a hunch I’ll be getting a lot more mileage out of this tool.
Have you seen it in stores yet? Have you tried it? What do you think?
