Low Maintenance Hair Product Favorites from Matrix

I’ve mentioned before that you’re not going to find someone lower maintenance with their hair care routine than me. I only wash my hair a couple times a week at most, so I really shy away from a lot of hair care products. I don’t even use dry shampoo that often anymore, because it’s just one more thing coating my hair, giving me product buildup, causing me to have to wash my hair that much sooner. Recently, I tested out some new products from Matrix* and I’ve really been enjoying them. I was sent several pieces from the line but I’m being honest in that I’m just not going to use a full line of haircare on a regular basis. I chose a few favorites that I’ve been obsessed with to tell you about today.

Matrix Total Results So Long Damage Shampoo and ConditionerMatrix Total Results So Long Damage Shampoo and Conditioner are my new favorite combo for soft, silky, shiny hair. I do have some damage from dyeing my hair and from heat tools. I am a wash and go girl and rarely blow dry my hair, but I use heat tools on my hair 1-2 times a week so I do have a bit of damage. I get a trim every 6 weeks, but I do get split ends in the meantime.

I love the lather I get from this shampoo and I love the softness of the conditioner. You can kind of see how much I’ve used by looking at the bottles, I’ve used the system every time I’ve washed my hair in the last month. I do feel like using these products have improved the texture of my hair. It have coarse, thick, naturally wavy hair and although my hair is still coarse, it’s a little bit softer and the ends feel a little bit smoother. The fresh scent is great too. I will definitely continue to use these for the results I am seeing!

Matrix Total Results Miracle Creator Multi-Tasking TreatmentBeyond shampoo and conditioner, I typically don’t go too wild with haircare. I usually use some type of hair oil or serum and call it a day. It’s been a while since I’ve tried out a multi tasking spray, but I was excited to try the Matrix Miracle Creator Multi-Tasking Treatment for the 20 benefits it claims: leave in for nourishment, boosts shine, smoothes the cuticle, helps prevent breakage from brushing, adds moisture, helps prevent heat damage, helps fight frizz, helps even out porosity, minimizes damage, detangles, reduces dryness, conditions lightly, controls fly aways, helps prevent split ends, helps soften, makes blow dry process easier, helps correct roughness, helps shield against external aggressors, improves manageability, primes hair for styling.

So basically…it’s the bee’s knees. This stuff does it all. I’ve been spraying it on my damp hair and afterwards I’ll brush through with my Wet Brush. My hair feels instantly improved. It reminds me a lot of It’s a 10 which I also love, but this does twice as much! This is my favorite product discovery of the bunch.

Matrix Hair Total Results LineMost of the time I just stop there, but the Matrix Total Results line has two other products I’m dabbling in some days. I wear my hair in a ponytail pretty often so breakage can be an issue. I hadn’t really thought there was much I could do to prevent the breakage besides switching up where I put my ponytail- make it a little higher or a little lower, or even using a looser elastic. But after discovering So Long Damage Break Fix Reconstructing Lotion, I’ve realized that there is another way to help damaged hair! It has ceramide to help the hair become stronger over time. I apply it to towel tried hair after I apply the Multi-Tasking Treatment

Usually I wouldn’t take the extra step to apply something like the Break Fix Reconstructing Lotion, but I don’t find that it weighs my hair down, changes the texture significantly, or contributes to product buildup. I add it to my hair and go. I haven’t noticed major results yet but my hair does feel stronger overall lately. Maybe it’s this stuff, or maybe it’s a result of using the whole system together. Either way, I’ll take it.

Lastly, I’m using So Long Damage Iron Tamer Heat Protective Lotion. I normally air dry my hair so I don’t apply this until I heat style later in the week. I usually use my Sarah Potempa Beach Waver or I’ll straighten the day before I wash my hair so this will get applied at that point to my dry hair. I usually swear by a heat protectant that is an aerosol spray, but I’m glad I gave this one a chance. Heat tools glide through my hair when I use this and it makes my hair impossibly shiny and soft. I really love it!

Matrix Total Results Hair SystemOverall, I’m really pleased with the way this makes my hair look and feel. Here I’m rocking second (or third?) day hair after straightening it and using all Matrix products. As you can see, I have my hair ombré’d but it’s still looking pretty healthy, even on the ends where it can sometimes look fried.

Matrix Total Results Hair Care SystemI also have the Matrix Oil Wonders Volume Rose product line that I will be trying out for a future post. Their shampoo and conditioner is for fine hair, so I’m not sure how that will go for me, but I will keep you posted. So far, I’ve used the Finishing Spray with awesome (and amazingly scented) results, so I have high hopes for that line as well.

Have you tried any Matrix products recently? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

I haven’t used Matrix in a long time, but I’m really into multi-tasking Leave-in treatment products so if I ever finish up the 3 I’ve got, I’d definitely try this one from Matrix.

I need that Miracle Creator! I only wash my hair once a week or so, and also rock a lot of ponytails.
