L’Occitane recently came out with some new makeup (!!!) and some other awesome stuff. I’ve been rotating out my skincare a bunch but in paring down my bathroom to only stuff I LOVE, all of these L’Occitane goodies made the cut. I’ll walk you through what I have!
- L’Occitane Peony Perfecting Essence
- L’Occitane Peony Perfecting Cream
- L’Occitane Peony CC Skintone Perfecting Cream Light & Medium
- L’Occitane Pivoine Sublime Peony Tinted Lip Balm
First, the skincare. I’ve never met a skincare product from L’Occitane that I didn’t love. This line is no exception. The Peony Perfecting Essence is ultra light and has a slightly fresh floral scent to it that dissipates fairly quickly. It almost acts as a primer as well as being a serum because when I apply it, I feel it filling out my fine lines and pores. It makes my skin super soft and works in perfect conjunction with the Peony Perfecting Cream. The cream is a 24 hour- hydration cream and wow does it hydrate! All I can say about this is pure velvet in a jar. My skin feels so amazing when I wear this skincare duo. When I use these together I find myself not needing a primer because it makes my skin silky smooth and poreless! The main ingredient, Peony, makes up the Pivoine Sublime complex, that acts on skin cells to help visibly correct complexion and texture irregularities.
The texture of the Essence is ultra light and the Perfecting Cream is a little thicker but with an almost thick, whipped formula. Are they my new skincare go to? I’m using them all the time but they don’t have SPF so I’m reaching for them the most at night or when I know I’ll be mostly indoors for the day. They are really so, so good though!
I totally freaked out when I learned that L’Occitane was coming out with makeup! I really hope this is just the beginning, because considering all the amazing skincare offerings they have, I think they could come out with some amazing dewy blushes incorporating their oils, and a great highlighter. I will keep my fingers crossed for a launch like that. In the meantime, we have the new Peony CC Skintone Perfecting Cream.
I wrote about another line within L’Occitane, the Immortelle Precious BB Cream (read it here) that came out over the winter. I only had the medium shade, which was too dark for me at the time but that is L’Occitane’s other foundation choice. The CC cream comes in light and medium, but I hope they expand the range. The light shade is super light and would be pretty much perfect for my pasty self in the dead of winter in February when my skin hasn’t seen sun in months. I have a very slight tan but am still pretty light and the medium shade is what is working for me right now.
This is a perfect formula for summer because it is a lighter cream that also offers an SPF of 20. It does have a touch of the peony scent, which I don’t mind because it doesn’t last. The formula is CC pigments and illuminating pearly particles. It doesn’t apply shimmery though, you just get a touch of that radiant glow. It applies WHITE and for me it took a few tries to understand what was going on. I applied this to my face and tried to rub it in and it basically disappeared. At first I was like WTF then I realized that my face was abnormally light, which is how I knew that light was too light for me! I then moved on to medium, and got a much better effect. It literally does blend into your skintone so well it’s like your skin, but better.
I’m wearing it alone a lot of the time but I’m also mixing it with the Cover FX Custom Cover drops some days for fuller coverage. I bought the drops and have been challenging myself to use them with different things, so it’s been kind of fun.
Next, the Peony Tinted Lip Balms. I absolutely love these and I’m a total sucker for the packaging. They are gorgeous and they totally look like the lippies from Fresh. Am I right?! These lippies have a lid that screws on so there’s no way they can open up in your purse. There are four shades, Transparent, Nude, Rose Amber, and Rose Plum.
In this picture I am wearing Rose Plum. I am really shocked by the pigmentation these have for a balm! They are really smoothing and hydrating and I’m getting a ton of use out of them. I’m also wearing the Peony CC cream in medium by itself, and I love that it looks like my skin but better. It’s a really natural way to wear your foundation.
Have you seen any of the new makeup at L’Occitane? I’m obsessed!
