Ever since moving to the Milwaukee area, I’ve had a serious obsession with the L’Occitane store. It’s kind of bad news for me! I’ve only ever shopped with them online and have never had the opportunity to sniff anything in person before buying. Even shopping in that capacity, I was already obsessed with the brand. Now that I live near the store, I’m just in trouble!
When L’Occitane came out with their Au Brésil line, I wanted one of everything. I stopped in the store and tried their Vitória Régia perfumes out- the Day Flower and the Night Flower and became pretty much obsessed. I didn’t want to shell out $55 a piece for these fragrances, and I certainly didn’t need 10.1 fl. oz. of each since I never finish a fragrance! But I really wanted both, so I started shopping online for a deal. Pretty soon every ad I would see when I went online was for these fragrances and I NEEDED them. When I got an email coupon for my birthday that I could get a free birthday gift with a purchase, I decided to investigate their website again, and saw that they were offered in a duo on sale for $75. So I jumped on it!
I’m a total picky pants when it comes to fragrances, especially since being pregnant, and these are truly a delight to smell. Both fragrances contain the vitória-régia extract from the Amazonia region of Brazil. This flower perfumes with the Amazonian waters with its fragrance. Its petals transform from white during the day to pink at night, intensifying the floral aquatic scent, and this was the inspiration for the Day and Night eau de toilette fragrances and body care products. I feel like I’m on a tropical rainforest adventure in Brazil whenever I use these! They are truly intoxicating to me but not in an overwhelming or musky way. They are florals that are bright and delicious and they linger on my skin without being too sweet.
The Day Flower captures the scent of the white, newly blossomed petals. The scent is fresh with high notes of orange, lemon and apple as well as a heart of vitória-régia from the extract. The Night Flower captures the scent of the pink, fully blossomed petals. It’s more of a voluptuous floral with initial powdery notes that open up to the sensual vitória-régia notes at the heart. I don’t have a favorite, I love them both SO much. I’m wearing the Day Flower right now and I keep sniffing myself!
Just so you can get a good idea what the size is like, I’m holding it above. 3.4 fl. oz is how these come when you buy the duo, which is pretty standard for perfume. The scent lasts several hours on me, but if I wanted to intensify it I would probably wear the Fragrance Beautifying Cream that I mentioned here.
I am a total nerd and I was looking up more about these flowers online and stumbled upon some info that said the Vitória Régia is the largest aquatic plant and the largest water lily in the world! It was named after Queen Victoria of England, can grow at the speed of one square inch per minute, and can sustain the weight of a small child. Whoa!
Since I mentioned it above, this was the birthday present I got from them! It is worth $11 and contains two almond products from their line- a shower oil and a hand cream. I’m excited to try them both!
Totally in love with L’Occitane lately, and have more to share from them later this week as well! If you have any questions about the products click the links below or ask me a question in the comments! I’ve linked to all the products I talked about in this post as well as other Vitória Régia items from the line below.
