I’ve been working on this blog post for over a month now! It kept getting pushed farther down my list of articles I was writing as the holidays and limited edition stuff was fast approaching. Today I have a few Laura Geller products to share with you. This is a brand I really enjoy but haven’t played with in some time. When I first started blogging, it was a brand I started investigating and used for a while, but I don’t think I’ve touched any of her products in about two years. No real reason, but I’m glad I’ve been reunited. Some of these items are new and some have been around forever. I’ll give you the rundown on what I think!
Laura Geller Spackle Tinted Makeup Primer in Bronze is the first thing I tried from the line. It is supposed to be applied after moisturizer and before makeup as a prep for foundation. This one has soothing botanicals, and is lightweight and suitable for all skin types. It applies sheer with a slightly warm undertone. I wasn’t totally in love with this. It didn’t hydrate or dry me out, it just kind of was there. If I was wearing tinted moisturizer or something sheer, I could mix this with my foundation to warm it up a little bit and make it slightly deeper, but I don’t really do that much. I wouldn’t say this was a fail, but I just wasn’t in love and like what I’m currently using better.
What I’m wearing: Shiseido Future Solution LX Total Radiance Foundation, Laura Geller Balance-n- Bronze, Becca Beach Tint in Guava/Moonstone, Smashbox Bare in waterline, Laura Geller INKcredible Gel Eyeliner pencil in Blue Velvet on top lashline, Laura Geller Pout Perfection Waterproof Lipliner in Ruby
Balance-n-Bronze is two baked formulas in one- Balance-n-Brighten and Bronze-n-Brighten. If you’re not familiar with Laura Geller products, she is known for her baked products! This is a best seller that I think many people will love, myself included. There are lots of colors swirled together here and a lot going on in that pan so let me break it down for you. Balance-n-Brighten is a color corrector and brightener and Bronze-n-Brighten color corrects and gives skin some warmth. Together, you have the infusion of lots and lots of colors, color correcting, bronzing, and brightening abilities!
When using this, there are lots of ways you can attack this pan and make it work for you, and one way to make a mess. Don’t attack this with a stiff, dense bristled brush or you will end up with muddy streaks on your cheeks. I went at it all wrong when I was trying this out and couldn’t remember why I had ever liked it. Then I remembered that if you go into this with a big, fluffy brush and apply it by sweeping it over your entire face, it gives a gorgeous glow. I love that it warms up my complexion by making my skin maybe a half shade darker. You could also use it with an ever so slightly denser brush and apply as a bronzer. You could take a slanted eyeliner brush and brush this into your eyebrows for a little added definition there, and I’ve also taken my finger to some of the lighter tones in here and used them as a highlighter. I like this a lot and one of my good friends also swears by it!
Blue Velvet and Eggplant are both stunning formulas. Eggplant is a soft, deep muted purple that I have really grown to like. The i-care formula is a treatment like formula that has nice ingredients for your delicate eye area. I personally enjoyed the INKcredible formula the best, which is the Blue Velvet shade I am wearing in the picture above. It’s a gel eyeliner pencil and glides effortlessly on my lid. I am wearing it on the top lid above, but I love the look of a bright blue underneath my lash line to brighten up my eyes! There is a slight shimmer to it that the swatch pictures picked up but it’s not overwhelming on my eyes.
The two lip products I tried were my favorites of the line. Love Me Dew in Plum Freeze is almost a Marsala-ish shade. I am obsessed with lip crayons so naturally I was drawn to this one. It’s pretty opaque in one glide over the lips, and it lasts for a long time without fading. The deep color of Plum Freeze accentuated my dry lips a little bit but I’ve not been great about wearing lip balm to bed lately so I’m sure that’s to blame. The texture of this is slightly shiny and it’s fairly hydrating as well!
The Pout Perfection lip liner in Ruby proved to be super long lasting and transfer resistant as well as a very flattering shade of red. It’s not too bright, not too orange, not too vampy, but just right. To get this spread over my lips completely, I drew around my mouth and filled it in with little x’s. I don’t often wear lip liner but I really liked wearing a red liner that lasted all day with no slippage. I think from now on when I go red with my lipstick, I’ll wear this liner underneath!
