I’ve been testing out these great hair products lately and I had to share them with you! I haven’t used the Kenra brand in years but when I heard about the Smooth line that is supposed to be anti-frizz I knew I needed it in my routine this summer. Wisconsin is the most humid place ever in the summer, and I could be mistaken for Ms. Frizzle (from the Magic School bus if you’re an 80s kid) with the mop I’ve got lately. I tried out the Anti-frizz shampoo, conditioner, and oil.
Kenra Smooth Anti- Frizz Shampoo is a gentle shampoo that also provides color protection. It’s so important to protect your color, especially in the summer, so I appreciate this benefit. It can be used on any hair type and is meant to prolong the benefits of their professional Smoothing System salon treatment. I’ve never had that done but it sounds super nice! This provided a bit of a lather on me but not very much. I found myself applying some to the crown of my hair and when I couldn’t get it to lather very well, I applied more to the ends. The scent is light but non offensive and faded during the day.
Kenra Smooth Anti- Frizz Conditioner is a great duo with the shampoo. It provides color protection, detangles and conditions. As I was applying this to my hair I could feel the tangles coming loose. I was running my fingers through my hair and the knots were coming out and by the time the water ran clear, I could tell I would not have any detangling work to do with my hair brush!
Kenra Smooth Anti- Frizz Oil is lightweight and quickly absorbs into the hair. It contains avocado and soybean oils for softness and shine, keratin for smoothness, and conditioning, and anti oxidants to protect hair from daily stressors. I used this on my hair when it was wet, and when it was dry, and both ways it made my hair soft and shiny and look fabulous. It does reduce blow dry time, which is a fantastic feature because my hair takes forever to blow dry! It provides thermal protection up to 428 degrees which is amazing, because you can use it as your heat protectant before straightening or curling.
All in all, I was really impressed with this line. All of the products promise to reduce frizz 99% for up to 48 hours. I tested this out in some major humidity and also on some drizzly days where the weather is just being obnoxious and it’s misting outside. Those are usually TERRIBLE hair days for my hair. Using this trio, I was just fine and somehow my hair didn’t poof out whatsoever. I am sold!
Also, the entire line provides thermal protection, even the shampoo and conditioner! I love this feature because sometimes if I’m putting my hair up and just straightening my bangs or something, I won’t take the time to track down heat protectant. But with these products, I won’t have to, because as long as I’ve washed my hair I’m set!
The only downside is the price tag. 8.5 oz of the shampoo and conditioner will set you back between $20-30 each depending on where you purchase it. I’m really loving it though, so I’m thinking this might be a worthwhile splurge during the summer.
Do you suffer from summer frizzies? How do you combat your hair woes? I’d love to hear if you have tried these Kenra products or if you’re considering it!
