Thank you Viviscal for sponsoring today’s discussion. As always, all opinions are my own.
I’ve had a love/hate relationship with my hair over the past several years. When I got pregnant with my first baby almost five years ago, my already thick hair became even thicker, it grew faster, longer, and more luscious and I LOVED the beauty benefits of being pregnant. I had glowing skin and I felt great. Cue two months after I had my little bambino and my hair was falling out by the handful. It was awful. I still had a good 25 pounds to lose, my skin was looking awful, and the only thing I had left that made me feel pretty was my hair, which was shedding like mad. By the time I got pregnant again a year later, my hair had barely had time to play catchup from the last time. This time around, my hair is just haywire from my third baby. It never really grew back like I hoped it would the last time around, my hairline is still crooked and spotty, and pretty much all the beauty benefits that are supposed to come with being pregnant have not happened for me this time. I quit.
I recently stumbled across a brand called Viviscal. They develop products to keep the hair and scalp healthy, conditioned, and nourished so that hair can do its thing and grow healthy, thick and long. Factors like everyday stress, hormonal changes, poor nutrition, age, menopause, post-pregnancy, heredity, medication, and damage caused by the environment and overstyling can cause the hair to break and shed. Of course, pregnancy is just one of the factors that is likely affecting my hair right now, so I wanted to try the line!
They sent me several of their products, the Gorgeous Growth Densifying Shampoo, Gorgeous Growth Densifying Conditioner, Gorgeous Growth Densifying Elixir, Hair Filler Fibers, and Extra Strength Dietary Supplements.
Previously to checking out Viviscal, I don’t know if I would have considered taking a dietary supplement for my hair. Their Extra Strength Dietary Supplements are 100% drug free and are the #1 selling hair growth supplement in the U.S! That’s really saying something. People seem to love these and the reviews on their site are spectactular. The main ingredients are AminoMar (marine protein molecules), Biotin, Vitamin C, and Iron. I don’t feel comfortable taking these until my pregnancy is over with in the fall so I will let you all know how much I like these. These would arguably be the easiest way to see great results. Doesn’t get much simpler than taking a supplement!
For me personally, the Gorgeous Growth Densifying Elixir has become my favorite product of the bunch! It’s a body-boosting, leave-in treatment serum that promotes thicker, fuller hair. I was pleasantly surprised by the scent of this, which was botanical and fresh. A lot of times when there are grand claims being made about a product, the scent is very chemical, and I was happy that this one wasn’t! I also thought it was interesting that of the ingredients derived from natural sources, one of them was pea sprouts. I’ve never heard of that as an ingredient in anything before!
The Elixir, when added to my damp hair, is not greasy in the slightest, and doesn’t leave any product buildup. That’s important to me because I don’t get the chance to wash my hair daily these days. My hair definitely looks and feels thicker when I use this. I’m super impressed with the line, but the Elixir is my favorite!
Pro tip- when your hair isn’t feeling full- wear it wavy! I’ve used to straighten my hair regularly, but ever since my hair has been looking kind of wilty, I’ve kept some curl in it. It’s really made a big difference for my hair and helped keep it looking bouncy and full. I’m using Viviscal products in the picture above. Can you tell?
Have you heard of Viviscal before? Have you tried it? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
