I feel like this is THE golden question of skincare and makeup. Everything beauty revolves around this. What can I do to get the best skin possible? What do I buy for skincare and makeup? What do I wear to fake it? Over the years I’ve come to my own conclusions on how my skin has been at its best and at its worst.
I’ve noticed that for me, radiant skin comes from the inside first. When I am good about drinking lots of water, fueling my body with lots of vegetables and fruits and a well rounded diet, and get myself to the gym, my skin just glows. It’s always amazing to me what my body does to thank me for treating it well. Eating right and exercising make me feel good, they make me look good, and they honestly affect my appearance right down to my skin, hair, and nails. The details.
While we’re talking about a healthy diet, I’ve also realized my skin looks its absolute worst when I am loading up on sugar and dairy. I have a major sweet tooth but if I can curb my cravings and get my sugar fix from fruit or just skip sugar altogether, my skin is so much better off for it. Dairy gives me terrible acne. If you don’t believe me that your diet contributes but you break out a lot, make a journal of what foods you eat every day and track what your skin looks like every day. I bet you’ll find a correlation between some foods that aren’t doing your skin any favors.
When it comes to skincare, radiance doesn’t have to be rocket science. Sticking to a consistent skincare routine that involves exfoliating keeps your complexion from becoming too dull. Loading up on serums and moisturizers that contain Vitamin C is perhaps one of the best ways to keep a healthy glow going. Murad’s Advanced Active Radiance Serum* is a great product that I’ve been using day and night to keep my skin looking and feeling its best. It has potent ingredients to protect against free radical damage, support natural collagen products, and improve skin radiance. A lot of what causes the skin to dull can be environmental damage- too many UV rays, pollution, chemicals, and even stress can affect your skin on a cellular level. Advanced Active Radiance Serum is formulated with 50 times the potency of prior generations of vitamin C serums.
When you are coming up with your radiant skin routine, this is definitely a product to keep in mind. When I am looking for something to target in my skin routine, I will often type in a search term to Sephora.com like “radiance”- it will pull up a list like this of different makeup and skincare items that fit into that category. This is one of the few products I am using right now to keep my skin looking its best, and so far I’m loving it. It keeps my skin really soft and I do notice a difference in the brightness of my complexion recently since I picked it up.
What do you use to get the glowiest skin possible? I’d love for you to share your tricks with me!
