How can I freshen my jeans without washing them?

One of my favorite discoveries of 2019 was Madewell Jeans. They fit so well, and the denim quality is so good. They’re an investment, and I want them to last. Possibly forever because they were $$$. But really, I’ve been trying to figure out all the secrets to making jeans last. How often should you wash your jeans? Does putting jeans in the freezer work? How do you keep your jeans from smelling? I’ve googled it all, and then I found a way at home to freshen my jeans naturally with something I already had.

A friend who sells L’Bri was posting about this miracle cleaner that does it all. I already use L’Bri’s three-step skincare, and I’ve been using their aloe on my surgery scar. I’ve tried some of their makeup too. But the one thing I haven’t tried is their home products. As it turns out, Sparkling Fresh Multi-Surface Cleaner is the ticket for all freshening up all things denim.

How often should I wash my jeans?

After all of my google research, I realized I am truly washing my jeans far too often. I tend to wear my jeans for a week and throw them in the wash. I’m learning that high quality jeans stay that way when you avoid cleaning them. Of course, if you spill barbecue sauce on them or any kind of food or dirt stain, it makes sense to wash them (and you should). I’m a mom so the shelf life on my nice things is much shorter than yours might be! We’ve always got messes going on with our kids who are 3, 5, and 7. But for the most part, you really don’t need to wash your jeans more than once a month. Whether or not I plan to adhere to this rule is another question entirely, but I can definitely see why this keeps jeans nicer longer!

How do I freshen my jeans between washes?

I’ve been using L’Bri Sparkling Fresh Multi-Surface Cleaner to freshen my jeans between washes. It has a fresh citrus scent that’s light and non-toxic and giving my jeans a little spritz of this spray brings them back to life. It’s a concentrated formula so I make my own from home. I put a small amount of the concentrate in the bottle up to the fill line and fill the entire rest with water. The solution is a natural, plant-based concentrate that can also be used as a household cleaner, so beyond the scent being pleasant, it really is giving them a little cleaning too.

I love bringing my jeans back to life by spritzing them with this natural cleaner! It’s really doing the trick. I still think if my jeans actually smelled bad, or god forbid I make a whoops while I am changing a kid diaper, I’m DEFINITELY washing them in the washing machine. But in between, this is such a great idea, and it’s going well for me so far!

If you like aloe, you might really love many of L’Bri’s products. I bought their starter kit, which was amazing because I got over $350 of non-toxic makeup and skincare for $99 and I would highly recommend trying this brand that way if you’re interested. I’m still kind of freaking out that I got that much stuff for such a great deal. And I love pretty much everything that came in the kit!

Some of my favorite L’Bri products are their 3-step skincare (I use deep pore), their Hancure Mask dupe, beauty blender dupe, and non-toxic Bengay. Love these products!
