In an effort not to be a beauty hoarder, I recently found a product I really wanted to splurge on, and thought “nah, I’ll dupe it!” Hourglass Scattered Light Glitter Eyeshadows are so popular, they’re nearly impossible to track down in store or online. I swatched the shade Smoke and loved it so much. I had half convinced myself I needed to splurge on it, because a smoky taupe shade like that one would be an every day staple for me! But when I really analyzed what was in these colorful little eyeshadow pots, I realized that weightless, loose micro-glitter eyeshadow packed with sparkle and pressed with a plastic insert isn’t just a product exclusive to the Hourglass line: many different brands have a product like this one. I ended up not splurging on one of these and instead dug into my collection for a few dupes. I’d love to share with any of my penny pinching friends what I found!
Tarte Chrome Paint Pot ($22): If you’re searching out a dupe for the Hourglass at your local Sephora, this is what the employees will send you to. This is a pretty close formula dupe when swatched side by side with the Hourglass. Truthfully, the swatches of the scattered light shadows look a lot different online than in person. I have the shade Frosé and it goes on super well with a fingertip to press in the loose pigment. It’s super pretty and has minimal fallout.
Osmosis Colour Water Color High Intensity Loose Shadow ($20): These are some of the most beautiful shadows I have ever seen and you can’t beat the price point for the quality. I am obsessed with this brand and I love that they have such an amazing assortment of makeup for a mineral makeup brand. I am so impressed with the vibrancy of these shadows! I have this in Opal and Pink Champagne– both gorgeous colors!
Make Up For Ever Star Lit Powder ($21): Another awesome dupe for the Hourglass is these gorgeous star lit powders. Depending on the shade, these work beautifully as a highlighter as well. I love to layer these over shadows when I wear them to really make everything pop! They can also be used wet or dry. I have the gorgeous shades #13 and #12. I’m completely obsessed with the icey shade as an inner corner highlight!
Swatched on skin with no primer:
Tarte Frose; Osmosis Pink Champagne; Osmosis Opal; MUFE Starlit Powders in #13 & #12
