Holika Holika is a K-beauty brand I’ve recently been interested in trying. I got my hands on some of their new products and I’m super excited to share my first impressions. The package I received includes their ‘Peko’ collaboration kit and some of their best selling products. The Peko collection is not yet sold in the US but many of these products are available on Amazon. I’ll link them when applicable!
My very first impressions of this brand as a whole is that the package is completely adorable and the products seem innovative and fun. The only downside is that most of the directions and product names are in a different language. There is usually a basic title that is in English and some of the directions might be in English too. I’m pulling some of my info from Amazon as well.
I haven’t tried this aloe yet but I’m seriously impressed by it already! We always like to keep aloe on hand in the summer for sunburns. It’s hard to find one that doesn’t have any alcohol. I’m always checking the ingredient list before I’ll bring something into my house because the wrong formula won’t help at all. This is one is less than $10 and has no parabens, benzophenone, propylene glycol, BHT, animal ingredients, artificial color, or mineral oil. I’m definitely excited to have this for summer.
This is an all in one serum that is a moisture gel, toner, and luminous essence in one. After using this once, I could feel a difference in my skin’s moisture level. There was no tackiness, and it left my skin feeling soft and beautiful. Ceramide is a main ingredient, as well as a blend of oils including bergamot, lavender, lemon, orange, and chamomile. Besides being super hydrating, I found this to layer well with other skincare under makeup, as it dried down quickly.
I’m always looking for a good sheet mask and Holika Holika has a huge selection of sheet masks for different skincare concerns. The price on these are fantastic. You can get a 10 pack from Amazon for around $10! Shea Butter, Avocado, Strawberry, and the Pig-nose clear blackhead 3-step kit are a few that I’ll be trying soon. I’ll let you know my thoughts on these if I love them in a future post!
The Peko Collection
Holika Sweet Special Set
I’ll give you my first impressions of the products I’ve tried. I’ve tried everything but the hand creams! I had a hard time reading the entire product description of everything because of the language barrier but I found this site to be helpful!
Glow Cushion Foundation: I didn’t know what to expect from this but this was a great cushion foundation. I’ve tried many and this is definitely on par with brands like Clinique, It Cosmetics, Lancome, etc. 02 was a great color match for me and maybe even a bit light for summer. It has great coverage, and applied well with the included applicator. The packaging this came in was an adorable little milk carton. So cute! I believe this has SPF 50 and is in the mid $30 price range everywhere I see it online (mostly eBay since it’s not sold in the US yet).
Melty Jelly Blusher: This comes in 3 colors. It’s a gel that you apply with your fingers and goes on vibrantly but sheers out easily. It went well with the glow cushion foundation without getting smeary or patchy. I don’t wear gel blush often but I did like this.
Sweet Peko Eyeshadow Palettes: This was my favorite find. The shades are neutral and some have a bit of shimmer. The nude range is fantastic, the shades wear beautifully, they’re vibrant, neutral, and so gorgeous! The eyeshadows pair at least as well as similar looking palettes. The one thing that took me by surprise was wearing the shimmery shades on my lids without eyeshadow primer and they didn’t have any fallout! I put my finger in the palette to grab some of the shade, sprayed it with some setting spray and patted it on my lid. It looked great and lasted all day. This is a new favorite find!
Bun Puff: You should’ve seen the WTF look I gave this when I unwrapped it. LOL I’ve been perplexed by this but after some searching around online I discovered it’s meant to be used kind of like a large beauty blender. I’m super intrigued by the enormous, rounded dome shape and I’m really looking forward to using it! Might even be too big for what I’d want, but I will have to give it a shot!
Lip Bomb: These are super pretty on! They apply sort of liquidy which I wasn’t expecting from something that came out of a stick. It stains right away and there’s a slight aftertaste, but it does last quite a while. The only downside is that I did notice it faded in the center of my mouth first and left a slight ring around my lips.
Peko Lip Balm: These are absolutely adorable and strawberry scented. I don’t love a lip balm that I have to dip my finger into, but my kids LOVE these. I love the little strawberry that is in the center. Adorable!
Peko No Sebum Pact: This is a translucent pressed powder. I tried it over the Glow Cushion and it wore pretty well!
Peko Luminizer: This is a nice cream luminizer that left a bit of a glow on my cheeks. I wasn’t overly impressed but if you like cream products, you might love it. I don’t tend to wear a lot of cream products but my bar is set high with the likes of Becca and It Cosmetics when I do – LOVE both of their cream highlighters!
Cushion Puff: I love that you can get extras of these little makeup applicator puffs. I don’t tend to use this type of applicator but they do get dirty quickly and can be hard to wash. These are so cute! I love the cartoon character.
This was such a fun collection to try! I have been reaching for some of these products a bunch and others I’ll probably pass along to a friend. I am getting the most mileage out of the Lazy and Easy All in One Master, Glow Cushion Foundation, and of course those eyeshadow palettes! If you want to try just one thing make it those.
What do you think of this collection? Is it something you’d pick up? What speaks to you most? Tell me in the comments!
