I have such a hard time with Spring makeup collections. I generally don’t get that excited about them because they’re normally full of pastels and colors that wash me out. That said, I’ve had my eye on just a couple makeup launches for Spring 2016 and Guerlain is one of them (Tarte– you’re the other one I’ve got my eye on!) There are a few things in this collection I am absolutely dying over so today I wanted to show you!
I became completely infatuated with Météorite Pearls when I reviewed Guerlain’s holiday collection last season and I’m loving trying them in a new medium. Guerlain Météorites Base Perfecting Pearls* is a color-correcting and radiance-boosting primer. There are so many things I love about it besides the obvious that the clear glass vessel is beautiful to stare at. The texture is gel and it doesn’t mess with the way my skin feels after using skincare. Oftentimes with my skincare routine, by the time I’ve put my serums and moisturizer on, I love the way my skin feels and I don’t want a primer to make me more oily, more matte, etc. when I’m already feeling like the texture is perfection. Once it’s applied, it’s so beautiful in the way it makes my skin look. I’d say the color correcting is less obvious but the glow is there. Think Becca Backlight Priming Filter (read review) but less obviously shimmery. It uses highly concentrated pearls of micro-shimmer to blur imperfections and give radiance and I’ll say it does a bang up job. The results are subtle but so pretty!
Ecrin 1 Couleur, Long Lasting Silky Powder is a new buttercup yellow shade for Spring. The compact spells out the word “Enjoy” which is such a nice touch. I love to see positive affirmations throughout the day and having one on my makeup is an added joy. This is not a shade I normally would have reached for but I’m really enjoying it. The light wash of yellow stays all day and could be worn by itself as an all over lid color, or you could add a shade or two to create a more complex look. When I’ve used this, it has been really pigmented and I haven’t had any issues with fallout. When I first saw this I was thinking out of the box and decided it would be perfect with navy blue liquid liner, so that’s exactly how I’ve been wearing it!
The Rose Aux Joues Blush Duo is a favorite of mine from the collection. There are two shades present here, a satiny red and a delicate pink. The affirmation I am getting here is “Smile” which is another feel good word. It’s hard not to smile when I’m applying this to my cheeks! You could wear these individually or like I have, swirled together on my cheeks. I featured this in my favorite spring blushes post recently because I can’t get enough of the feel good shade. The finish is beautiful on these. I feel like I glow when I wear them.
I would be remiss not to show you the amazing compacts these are housed in. The blush comes housed in a shiny metallic red and the eyeshadow comes in a champagne metallic shade. They are so pretty and I love the luxury look. When I’m reaching for these to get ready I am instantly reminded how high end these are.
The Eye Pencil in Khaki Driver is new to me. I haven’t tried an eyeliner from Guerlain yet but this one reaches my wildest dreams in an eyeliner. It’s an intense kohl eyeliner with a deep olive/khaki shade that glimmers. One of the sides of this has a smudger and it also comes with its own sharpener. I tend to need something deeper and more defining to line my top lash line, but I have a lot of fun playing with this on my lower lash line.
Swatches L-R: Guerlain Météorites Base Perfecting Pearls, Ecrin 1 Couleur, Rose Aux Joues Blush Duo, Khaki DriverI’m wearing everything from the collection here. The eyeliner is on my lower lash line. You can see how soft it is. My only other non-Guerlain makeup here is Aqua Luminous foundation (review here), Stila Midnight liquid liner, It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara (review here), and Dior Addict Lip Glow in Coral.
