Why, hello there! You probably don’t recognize me. That’s because Justina has graciously allowed me to write a guest post for her blog this week. Let me introduce myself: my name is Shannon and I run the creation of beauty is art. Now that we’re acquainted, let’s get to today’s post!
Summer is my favourite season. When I was younger, it used to be my favourite time of year simply because there was no more school. Now that I’m older, I love it for the social activities. Summer means more nights out and partaking in fun summery experiences – like going to the beach.
Believe it or not, I’ve never really been a beach type of person. This is probably because I burn really easily and get bored lying in the sun all day. This year, though, all of that has changed! (Well, not the burning really easily part.) Instead of wanting to stay inside, sheltered from the world, I’ve been craving relaxing days at the beach. Sunshine, a good book, and maybe even a sandcastle – who knows!
Since I’m lusting after the beach, I thought this would be the perfect time to share some beach ready tips!
If you’re anything like me, sunscreen is a necessity. To avoid burning to a crisp in the hot summer sun, I always use sunscreen when I go out. I’ve long given up on trying to achieve a natural looking tan. When it comes to sunscreen, I really love the Dry Touch one from Neutrogena. It comes in a liquid and in a spray. I apply the liquid sunscreen before I leave for the day and reapply with the spray version. I love this sunscreen because it doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily and sticky like a lot of other ones do! When you’re going to the beach this summer – always, always use sunscreen.
When it comes to the perfect day at the beach, you’ll need to be prepared for anything. Don’t forget the beach towels, flip flops, books, a giant beach umbrella, a hat and sunglasses, food and water, and anything else you’ll need to have a fun day at the beach. Do you love sports? Bring a volleyball along with you. Want to relax in the sun? Spend the day laying back and listening to music. Whatever you want to do, make sure you have everything you’ll need.
Beach Proof Hair and Makeup:
At the beach, less is more. (Except when it comes to your bathing suit! Pick something that suits your shape and makes you feel confident.) When it comes to your hair and makeup, keep it simple. If you choose to wear makeup, choose your products carefully. You can use waterproof or cream products to highlight your natural beauty! Put your hair up into a high bun to keep it out of the way – and keep you looking perfectly beach ready.
There you have it…a few tips to get you ready to enjoy the beach this summer. Have you been to the beach lately? Do you have any tips to share?
