Welcome to my chit-chat series! This is only my third one but it’s becoming a post I’m looking forward to writing every week. This week has been all about surviving our lack of routine and starting summer vacation off right. We’ve already gone camping, out of town to visit relatives, and to numerous parks. Today we’re going to Trader Joe’s. I’ll start the survey, and you can fill out your own in the comments section! What’s your favorite part of summer break?
What’s your favorite part of summer break?
I love not having a major routine and flying by the seat of our pants every day. I’m home with all three of my kids this summer and I’m excited about sleeping in, going on adventures, and doing our thing. I start every day with a main goal of going on one “adventure” every day. Whether it’s to a park, the grocery store, the zoo, etc.
What’s your least favorite part of summer break?
The same thing I love about it makes me nuts. The lack of structure can be tough. We like to start the day at the gym every morning during the school year, so not having a specific routine makes it hard to be in shape. In an ideal world, I would wake the kids up in time to go to the gym in the morning before starting our day. But sleeping in feels so good! We’re only one week in to break so it’s not too late to salvage a good routine, right?
Also, when we have nowhere to really “show up” I frequently go DAYS without wearing makeup or doing much with my appearance. That’s fine with me because I like the way I look regardless, but not putting myself together every day kind of starts to drag me down. There really is some magic in getting yourself ready for the day and doing your makeup and hair. For me, anyway.
What’s your favorite thing to buy at Trader Joe’s?
I wish we had a Trader Joe’s a little closer by, but the nearest one is about 25 minutes away. Honestly though? I love making the drive. We are always buying the rocket crackers that are a healthier alternative to goldfish crackers. I am obsessed with their cold brew coffee, pizzas, indian food, cookies…I want it all. Read this article which details a ton of cult favorites. People LOVE shopping there, me included, and the employees that work there always love spilling their faves.
What’s on your shopping list right now?
So many things. I am looking for a new comforter for our bed, and I’m almost for sure going to buy a Buffy Comforter. Have you heard of these? They’re supposed to be like sleeping on a cloud.
I’m also looking at re-arranging several areas of my house including my dining room and living room. I’m looking for a big area rug for my living room and I want a HUGE tufted ottoman like this one from Article. Sigh. Home improvement is so expensive.
On my beauty shopping list, I’ve been lusting after the Cover FX Monochromatic Blush Duos. Peach Nude is so pretty. I almost picked it up at Sephora a couple days ago, then I got to thinking. Would I really need a matte and shimmer BOTH of the same color? I have a lot of matte blush so I’d probably prefer one with a slight shimmer if I was going to splurge. I started poking around, and noticed the Benefit Cheekleaders Palette has the shade Galifornia, and man it’s very similar to Peach Nude. I’d say it’s somewhere in between the matte and the shimmer shade from Cover FX. The mini palette of Cheekleaders isn’t online right now but in store it’s $30, whereas Peach Nude is $38.
What’s your best recent beauty buy?
I’ve been more and more picky about beauty products recently. The last thing I bought that I can remember was a replenish of one of my favorite concealers. I also picked up a replenish of a BB Cream by Dr. Jart+ which comes in like one or two colors but is the BEST thing ever for my skin. I forgot about it for a while after I ran out last time but it’s the best.
The next thing I’m stocking up on is my favorite facial peel EVER. It’s by L’Bri, this aloe-based brand I love and whose 3-step skincare system I’m obsessed with (it’s basically a dupe for Clinique but natural). Their Rejuvenating Facial Peel is the best exfoliator I’ve ever tried. And arguably the most unique. It uses natural fruit enzymes of green papaya, pineapple, and aloe vera gel. It dissolves dead skin cells naturally without acid. And when it does? I can roll the pieces of my dead skin off and it comes off literally in sheets. It’s disgusting and amazing at the same time. It’s great for sensitive skin and acne-prone skin and it doesn’t hurt at all. I ran out of my current tub that lasted me about six months so I’m replenishing ASAP!
Oh, and I almost forgot! I’ve been lusting after Static Nails Liquid Glass Lacquer: Perfect Nudes Palette. These are 10 limited edition shades in a capsule collection that is on sale for $45 right now. They’re made in the USA, non-toxic, 8-free, vegan, and cruelty-free. I just bought them today! I can’t wait to review them. Have you tried these yet? They’re all over my Facebook ads! Use THIS LINK to get $5 off of yours if you want to try them!
What are you decluttering this week?
I have a bunch of old makeup I need to go through and toss. And I’d love to clean my basement of toys we don’t need anywhere. We will be gone during our neighborhood garage sale this summer, which is seriously a bummer.
Does anyone have a method to their decluttering? How often do you do it? Do you go by a list? I feel like we live in piles of clutter!
What’s on your to-do list this weekend?
We are going to Vegas on a couples trip in a few weeks and we really need to nail down details. What’s your favorite thing to do in Vegas? We don’t even know where we are staying yet!
What are you looking forward to for the weekend?
I’d like to tackle a major project and see it through from beginning to end. Hopefully it’s my shoe storage problem. We have more shoes with three girls plus me than anyone I know! The shoe situation has taken over our laundry room area.
If you have a beautiful solution, email me! I need ideas.
Thanks for reading everyone! I’d love to hear your responses down below. Just copy/paste and answer them all yourselves! Have a great weekend!
