I’ve been looking to replace my Lancome Artliner lately. It’s been my go- to liquid liner for the last 5 years at least. I haven’t even considered swapping it out for something else until recently when it hit me- I’m going to be a mom of two here soon, it’s time to reign in the spending a little more. I consider black liquid liner to be a staple in my every day routine so I’ve been searching for something that will allow me to get the same look I’ve been going for but on a slightly smaller budget.
Lancome Artliner in Noir is $30.50, is a super rich black color, and has a precise foam tip pen applicator that allows me to get a thin or a thick line. Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner in Intense Black is $20, also has a super pigmented black shade, and has a thin marker like tip that allows for a thin or thick line. Stila’s formula is also waterproof!
I’m getting down to the bottom of my Lancome, so it wouldn’t be a fair comparison to swatch it- it’s applying really light and I need several passes to get a good black line. But above, you can see Stila’s formula swatched on my hand. It’s such a dark and pretty black, I’ve been loving it!
I’ve used Stila’s formula for a couple weeks, and so far so good. I like that it doesn’t fade at all after a full day of use and when I rub my allergy eyes it doesn’t migrate. It’s been lasting in the heat and humidity of a Wisconsin summer like a champ. If I stick with Stila’s formula, I’m excited that it comes in lots of exciting shades too!
During the holidays, Lancome often has a train case as a purchase with purchase- I could see myself repurchasing the Artliner to qualify for that, but for now, I think I’m switching to Stila. $10 cheaper and it works just as well so far. The real test will be to see how long the liner lasts before drying up or being used up. I’ll keep you posted!
What is your favorite black liquid liner? Maybe my search isn’t over yet!
