I have lots and lots of lipsticks. You wouldn’t even believe me if I told you how much lipstick I had! This time of year is actually my favorite time to wear lipstick. The shades that are popular in the fall are flattering on me- reds, plums, burgundy, and the deep rich jewel tones look great with my dark hair and eyes so when I see all the fall launches I am like gimme gimme!
My absolute favorite red lipstick is actually the first one I ever bought. I was working at the Estée Lauder counter five years ago and back then I was not much of a risky makeup wearer. I have always been into makeup, but I mostly stuck to the neutrals and almost never wore lipstick. Lipstick didn’t become an obsession until I started blogging! But seeing all the gorgeous shades on all the women I worked with made me want to work outside my comfort zone.
Lancome was in their gift with purchase when I decided I needed to try a red lipstick. I tried every single shade in their line on one day and settled for Jezebel. The shade is a deep berry red, almost like a merlot color. It is really flattering and goes with everything from neutrals to a smoky eye without being too much. I can swipe this on from the tube for a bit richer of a color or I can swipe it on and rub it around with my finger a little bit to get a less intense look. It has the faint scent of roses but it’s very distinct to Lancome and it evokes a lot of memories for me.
My first tube of this fell out of my purse in the parking lot and I ran over it with my car. I was so sad but I kept the tube for years in a plastic bag so I wouldn’t forget that I wanted to replace it eventually. It’s been years since I’ve used it but when Lancome had a gift with purchase this past summer I knew it was a good time to replace this. They may have come out with different packaging because I totally don’t remember the magnetic closure of the tube or the rose stamp on the side of the lipstick. It is gorgeous and a joy to use! I feel like a movie star when I use it.
Wrap your lips in rich, satiny color with this deeply replenishing lipstick. Infused with moisture-boosting Pro-Xylane™, lips stay moist, soft and comfortable for up to 8 hours. Antioxidant-rich Vitamin E helps keep lips safe from environmental aggressors, so they’ll look and feel healthier day after day. The stay true color won’t feather, flake or fade, so your pout will always look picture-perfect.
My lips stay hydrated and smooth when I wear this and the color lasts for several hours. I don’t know if I would say 8, but it easily lasts me 4-5 hours without the need to reapply. I generally don’t get 8 hours out of any lipstick because I don’t go that long without eating or drinking and that tends to fade anyone’s lipstick.
I am totally wanting to try more from this line. I am in love with Jezebel and I’m definitely considering picking up another shade to qualify for the train case. Lancome comes out with two train cases every winter for the holidays and they are a stellar deal- in the past it’s been that you get hundreds of dollars worth of products for $60 when you buy any one item from the counter. Chic Neutrals Warm and Party Plums Cool are the two choices this year. It sounds like a big splurge, but each box comes with a full size mascara, Cils Booster, two full size lipsticks, a Juicy tube, full size eyeliner, blush, three full size eyeshadow singles, a full size makeup remover, a couple makeup brushes and a skincare sample. Even if you only use the mascara and the eye makeup remover, it’s practically paid for itself! This year I may get another lipstick from the ‘L’Absolu’ Rouge line and their La Base Pro Illuminating HydraGlow Primer.
