I was in Sephora the other day wanting to pick up one of Too Faced Melted lippies that just came out. I am always drawn to the brightest shades of every line. Of course, Too Faced Melted in Fuchsia and and Violet were both calling my name. Out of curiosity, I wanted to see how similar they were to the Matte Créme Lip Pencils by Bite, since I recently got many of those.
Suddenly, it became clear to me why I was so drawn to Melted Fuchsia and Melted Violet- I already owned two lip products that were nearly identical to them! Bite’s Matte Créme Lip Pencils in Satsuma and Grape are nearly identical in every way!
These are not the best swatches because they were taken in Sephora with my cell phone, but you can still tell that they are nearly identical in every way. The biggest difference to me is that the Bite product is matte, and the Too Faced product is slightly glossy. I say slightly, because it looks glossy when swatched out of the tube, but when I try it on my lips, it definitely sets to a slightly matter finish. I can eat and drink with the Bite lip pencil on without having it migrate, but the same is not true for the Too Faced Melted. After a couple hours of wear, Too Faced vanishes with hardly a trace, whereas Bite will stick around, at least for me. The feel is also very similar on the lips- it’s kind of a clingy formula that you can hardly detect but it does have some slip- in the case of both formulas.
Bite’s lip pencils are $24 and Too Faced Melted lippies are $21. You definitely don’t need both, but if I were to choose one or the other I would go with the Bite! I’m so glad I took the time to check the similarities of these before heading to the checkout counter!
