I’m baaaack! I posted last week about being in a funk and mentioned I was struggling getting it together enough to function around my house. About 20 minutes ago my mom walked out the door after spending the weekend here, and my house is like a new place! We did load upon load of laundry and dishes, reorganized all the kids’ toys, I organized a portion of our hall closet, and just in general my house is looking so much neater. My stress is melting away and I can’t wait to take on a new week! I still feel like winter is bogging me down so we are planning to infuse some fun into this next week in the form of the zoo, and anything else that’s a little bit of a scenery change from our usual routine. I can do this!
So anyway, to get back into the swing of things, I wanted to share with you what I have been wearing for makeup these days. I’ve been trying to wear at least a little makeup most days because it makes me feel more like myself, and I’ll show you everything that is crammed into my makeup bag at the moment. It’s all such good stuff!
Lately, I’ve been mixing Tarte’s BB Tinted Treatment Primer in Medium with Tarte’s Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation in Fairly Light Neutral. The primer is a touch too dark but I blend it out with my beauty blender and you can’t really tell. I like that I get a silky smooth feel from the primer and when I mix it with the foundation it looks as good as it feels. Most days, I will set this with the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Translucent (review) which is a total repurchase for me. I’ve already hit pan and I love that I can use it year round rather than keep a few different shades of powder on hand based on the season. For blush, I’m sticking with Clinique Aglow for a super light and neutral warmth and I’m using the lighter contouring shade from the Tarteist Contour Palette.
For probably close to a year and a half now, I’ve been using the Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden. I really like it but it’s gotten watery on me. I switched to this from MAC’s Paint Pot in Painterly which I used to love but that got funky on me too. Sometimes I think these primers come in too big of a jar or a tube. I use Eden every day and I’ve got a ton left, but I think the product turned on me in the meantime so I’m not enjoying it as much. I think I’m going to chuck all of my eye primers and start from scratch. I’m curious what everyone else is using, so if you have a suggestion for me, please let me know!
After using a primer, I will dab on some eyeshadow. I’m loving the Tartelette in Bloom palette. I’m a major neutral eye shadow lover so this palette is my jam. I truly don’t think I could ever own too many neutral palettes. They are just my first love! There are so many great things happening in this palette. There are 9 matte shades and 3 lusters. The shimmer/luster shades in this palette are to die for. I will often wear Rocker or Funny Girl as an allover lid shade. Last weekend I even wore Firecracker on my whole lid, which is a little darker than I usually go for an allover lid shade but I was glad I went for it- it’s such a pretty bronzey gold shade! I am also a huge fan of putting brown into my crease and there are so many lovely options to choose from here. I wear Rebel all the time in my crease, and sometimes blend it with Smarty Pants too to change it up a bit. There isn’t a dud in this palette. It’s so much fun to use!
After eye shadow, I will usually go in and do my brows. Right now I am liking them a little darker and more defined than normal. The last time I went in for a hair appointment, I actually had her “tint” my brows by applying hair dye to them. I love that it colors all the fine blonde little baby hairs and they look great already before I even start my makeup for the day. But I still like to sculpt them further with Benefit’s Brow Zings in Dark. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve used this little duo but it works so well for me. I use an angled liner brush from Sephora with it for precise application.
When I’m in a rush I don’t use liner. Otherwise, I will apply Stila’s liquid liner, which is my favorite in recent months. I will often touch up my undereye area and the redness around my nose with Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in Light Neutral, which was one of my January beauty buys. I top everything off with It Cosmetics Hello Lashes Extensions.
A lot of the time I would stop here during the day, but if I wear something on my lips lately it’s going to be either Bite Beauty’s Matte Créme Lip Crayon (Sucre pictured here) or a matte liquid lipstick that will stay all day. Sephora 13 is the one I have pictured here. I like it a lot when I wear this lip balm underneath.
So that concludes what I’m wearing for makeup lately. I’m in a happy place with the products I’m using right now so I hate to rock the boat too much but I do have a few exciting new makeup items I want to share with you in the weeks to come. It’s kind of exciting to hit pan on makeup items you are really enjoying because that means it was money well spent. I’ve really gotten some good use out of so many of the products I mentioned today! I can’t wait to share with you some other new items I am testing and hopefully at least a few of them become this well loved too!
I wish you all a happy Valentine’s weekend and a great start to your week! Tell me in the comments what some of your current favorite and most loved products are right now. I’d love to know!
