Is summer seriously almost over? The beginning of September and when kids go back to public school marks the official end of summer for me. Growing up, the word “school” may as well have been a swear word in our house from the day school let out until a couple weeks before it was back in session. Both of my parents are teachers and they appreciated a few months off without having to have the reminder. But as the evenings are getting chillier, and a few breezy days are sprinkled in with the high heat days, it is a pressing reminder to me that Fall is around the corner. I am hanging on for dear life to this last couple weeks, and painting my fingers and toes with Essie’s summer collection right now.
This collection is called “Haute in the Heat” and every single color is reminiscent of summer to me. Essie nails it (haha) every time with colors that joyfully remind me of the season we are in.
From top to bottom: Ruffles & Feathers (powerful peacock teal), Urban Jungle (irresistible alabaster orchid), Strutt Your Stuff (compelling cobalt aqua), Roarrrrange (unstoppable, bold orange), Haute in the Heat (unforgettable, hot guava), Fierce, No Fear (intense cocoa mahogany).
Haute in the Heat (the bright pink) absolutely SCREAMS summer to me and has been so fun to wear on my toes. Ruffles & Feathers is described as a teal, but it is so green to me. Strutt Your Stuff is such a beachy blue shade. These are the colors that really feel like the middle of summer to me. I’m sure I’ll be pulling them out in February when I can’t wait for the snow to stop! Urban Jungle is an off white type shade that I think will be lovely taking us into fall. It’s not a stark white shade at all, it’s got some warmth, and it will be fun to play with for nail art as well (I just got a fun kit to try and I’m totally using this shade to play)! Roarrrrange is a bold orange but I think I could wear this around Halloween time too and it would transform into a fall color. I think it’s so bright and refreshing and gorgeous! My absolute favorite shade is Fierce, No Fear. I actually exploded this all over my mom’s brand new leather chair somehow which was horrifying, but it cleaned up well and I loved it so much I had to go buy another bottle. This shade is also very fall-esque to me. I’ve been wearing it constantly this summer and have received so many compliments! The shades above were each swatched with two coats. A few of them probably could’ve used a third coat. Which are you loving most? I am rocking Fierce, No Fear today.
Keep an eye out for these shades again- I am working on some fun nail art featuring these shades. I’m a total nail newbie. If you have any tips for me, tell me in the comments!
