Now that we’ve had a couple good snows, it looks like it’s time to finally get up my coverage of Essie’s Fall polishes! Now keep in mind I have dry cuticles that no amount of lotion will cure and stubby, wide fingers and check out four of my favorites from the line.
First, I should mention Dress to Kilt and The Perfect Cover Up. I’m not showing them here at risk of ending up as the pun of a Buzzfeed article. I got a bunch of pictures but none of them came out as well as I would have liked so I’ll just tell you about them instead. Dress to Kilt is a bright, burnt red shade. It’s really pretty and reminds me of the red leaves on the trees in the fall. It doesn’t stain. Dress to Kilt is described as a powerful peacock teal. It comes across as a burnt blue type shade on me. It’s perfect in two coats.
Now, on to what’s below! Fall in Line is a deeper, cooler version of a robin’s egg blue. It’s gorgeous for fall. I would wear it any season! It goes on really creamy and is opaque in two coats. Partner in Crime is a dark, chestnut brown. When worn by itself it comes off as black, but when paired with lighter shades like Fall in Line, it comes across as a deep brown. It’s vampy and gorgeous and surprisingly it doesn’t stain!
What I really love about this collection is that each shade looks like it was run through an Instagram filter. Many of the shades are bright but look like they are almost a bit burnt, like they were run through Amaro. That’s my favorite Instagram filter because I’m lazy and always just choose the first one. These are so gorgeous for year round but I know I’ll be getting a lot of mileage out of Take it Outside and Fall in Line. Those are the lightest two shades of the collection.
If you are reading, tell me…what’s your favorite, do you have short nails or long nails, and what is your Instagram filter of choice?
