We have a variety of food preferences in our house. I was a vegetarian for a few years in college and still love to eat that way most of the time. My husband is a carnivore to the max. The kids would subside on macaroni and cheese every day if it was up to them. How does everyone in the family have a dinner together and stay satisfied? That’s the magic question.
With school starting in less than a month, I’m starting to take meal planning a little more seriously again. We do shakes for breakfast, and for dinner I like to eat something healthy as a family. I love doing burgers for dinner but not everyone is in the mood for something super meaty and filling in the evening. I prefer lighter fare myself and something that’s full of veggies and plant based protein is more my jam than anything that won’t digest well in my stomach in the evening.
Enter: MorningStar Farms® Quarter Pound Veggie Burgers. These are brand new and available at Walmart, which is so exciting! For years, I’ve been waiting for this. I’ve always been obsessed with this brand’s veggie burgers, but when I’m hungry, I find myself wanting MORE. You don’t even know how many times I’ve wished these were available in the last 10 years and just made myself two veggie burgers for dinner instead. #vegetarianprobs Ha! I love that there are two varieties available:
Meat Lovers Burger: A “beef-like” taste and texture that packs 27 grams of positive Plant Based Protein.
Veggie Lovers Burger: A better for you burger packed with 12 different veggies, 2 seeds & 2 grains, plus 10 grams of Plant Based Protein.
I have been meaning to get there this week anyway because I need to pick up school supplies for my five year old, so while I was there I checked these out to see if they would would be a hit amongst my family. Would I be eating them alone or would they be something everyone in the family could indulge in?
Answer: These were a total hit! Really. Even the dog stole one off the table.
I can never get enough plants in my meal, so I prefer to eat mine with a side salad. The kids love a side of grapes and macaroni and as long as I know there’s so much protein in their meal with the MorningStar Farms® burgers, I’m not complaining. I also love that you could totally make room for these on the grill or just put them in the microwave or on the stove. They’ve versatile and tasty no matter how they’re cooked.
The kids got new clothes for back to school, and what is mom getting? I think it’s finally time I treat myself to Walmart’s Online Grocery Pickup Service. One of my friends just posted on Facebook last week that between their online grocery pickup and the savings apps out there, there is literally NO reason why anyone should be shopping anywhere else. This friend is not a blogger and that wasn’t an ad, but it did catch me off guard. What am I even doing with my life if I’m still walking into a store and possibly paying more than I need to for goods I could just pick up and be getting for the lowest price available? Duh. Work smarter, not harder. Speaking of which…Walmart has an Ibotta offer for $2 off MorningStar Farms products, expiring September 24, 2018. I’ll definitely be using this coupon a few more times while it’s still active.
