Do you mix your makeup?
Sometimes I do. When I do, it’s usually mixing an eyeshadow that’s a little too light with one that’s a little too dark in the same palette to create the perfect crease shade. Lately though, I’ve been thinking outside the box and trying to get extra mileage out of foundations that aren’t right for me. I’ve never custom mixed my own foundation shades so this has been kind of a cool discovery!
I have a Jouer Matte Moisture Tint that I used to be obsessed with and I picked up the formula again the other day and it just didn’t sit right with me. I have the shade Porcelain and it’s just too light on me at the moment. I was trying to fix it by using a slightly darker shade of the Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation, and somehow, layering them together was way better than either on its own. I have loved each of these on their own individually before, but when I mix them together they create the perfect harmony of color, texture, and coverage that is exactly what I’m looking for in a fuller coverage foundation at the moment.
When I wear these two foundations together, I will usually squeeze out equal amounts of both onto the back of my hand and whirl them together. I dot the mixture onto my face and then use a Beauty Blender sponge to give everything an airbrushed finish. I am loving the way it looks!
Sometimes lately I have been springing for lighter coverage, and I’ll have a post on some of my favorite picks for that, but when I want fuller coverage, this has been my jam every day for weeks. Of course, now that I’ve discovered Air Perfection (from my post yesterday) I might be singing a different song and dance. That stuff is pretty amazing all by itself, no mixology needed!

Your skin is glowing! I mostly mix foundations to adjust coverage or to get the perfect match.
Cocktailing makeup is becoming so much more popular these days!
I mix foundations often especially when one is too dark. I have a GeriG foundation that’s ultra light so it’s a good one to mix with others for a great match.
I would rather have one foundation to rule them all, but I will mix if I have to! I’m just not that good at remembering to mix silicone with silicone and water-based with water-based.
Oh yes, I do mix up makeups! You look beautiful
