COOLA Sunless Tan Anti-Aging Face Serum vs. Eco Tan Face Tan Water Review

I’ve always loved the idea of sunless tanning but the mess it inevitably makes rarely seems worth it. Once I started getting into green beauty, I found endless new and exciting products all over the internet and also Amazon. That’s how the Eco Tan Face Tan Water ended up on my radar. If it was what it said it was, it would be the same consistency as water and it would give me a gradual tan on my face without giving me acne or feeling heavy. Sounds great to me! Now that I’ve tried two similar green beauty products in the facial self tanning realm, I thought it would be a good time to compare!

Face Tan Water reportedly replaces toner and moisturizer, and is formulated with anti-aging and anti-acne properties as well as skin brightening Vitamin C. There are no artificial colors or toxic orange dyes, the formula is all natural and organic, and it only takes two nights to develop a subtle bronze.

I really enjoy this formula because it is weightless and scentless on my skin. I open the cap and shake some out into my hand, and from there apply to my cleansed face. I have noticed that it didn’t break me out (on my postpartum skin, lots of things break me out so I’m impressed with this one) and I wake up with super soft and moisturized skin. I’ve used this under moisturizer or on nights my skin is already feeling well hydrated I’ve worn it alone. I wake up with dewy looking, glowing, and more bronzed skin by morning. Since discovering this, I use it about twice a week and that’s enough to maintain a tan that is about two shades darker than my naturally fair skin tone.

The tan looks really natural and when I blend it down my neck, I can’t really tell a line of demarcation. Most of the time I use a moisturizer with it and I’m guessing applying it that way helps blend it in without leaving a line. If I don’t remember to wash my hands right away after using this, I will wake up with streaks on the backs of my hands (not my palms) and my guess is because it’s so watery the formula moves that way. Worth mentioning, I have been using my bottle since January, and I have about 80% of the bottle left.

Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice* Glycerin*, Dihydroxyacetone**, Lecithin*, Fusel Wheat Bran/Straw Glycosides**, Polyglyceryl-5 Oleate**, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate**, Glyceryl, Caprylate**, Coco Caprylate**, Sodium Hyaluronate**, Dehydroxanthan Gum**, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate**, Pelargonium graveolens Flower Oil*, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil*. *Certified Organic **Natural

COOLA Sunless Tan Anti-Aging Serum came on my radar after I fell in love with Eco Tan Face Tan Water and noticed that one of my favorite lines for SPF had come out with something similar. The COOLA is touted as a sunless tan face serum with a potent blend of argan oil, Vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, and plant stem cell cultures for smooth, glowing skin. It’s 70% organic, and can be used alone or added to your every day face moisturizer.

I haven’t been using this product for as long as the Face Water, but I like it for different reasons. The consistency isn’t watery, but it’s a very thin serum. On my dry skin, I do need to layer it with a moisturizer. I can tell it has great skincare benefits like bringing hydration and a little more firmness to my skin. I notice the tan shows up right away the next day but it doesn’t stick around as long as the Face Tan Water. I need to reapply a bit more often to keep the results. Also, if I don’t blend it in with a moisturizer on my face, I get a little bit of a line where I’ve stopped using the serum around my neck and chest.

All in all, I had great luck with both! If you are choosing between the two, it will probably come down to which ingredients you like better and how much you want to spend. The formulas are a little different and so are the prices. Eco Tan Face Tan Water is $37 for 3.38 fl. oz. vs. COOLA Sunless Tan Anti-Aging Serum is $54 for 1.7 fl. oz. Both come in a glass bottle so neither are all that travel friendly.
