I love the look of lip gloss, but I hate the way it feels. Despite how matte lips are trending, I love the way a gloss makes my lips look and feel healthy. My lip lines are smoothed over, they feel more hydrated and plump, and a shiny lip always photographs well! I found a couple new favorites that I’ve been carting around with me lately that I want to share. I won’t lie, for the last month I’ve had one of these on my kitchen counter and one in my diaper bag and I’ve been applying them on repeat. I feel like a traitor that I’m just now telling you about them!
The Clinique Pop Oil Lip & Cheek Glow* is a hot new item that Clinique is carrying. I’m having trouble tracking these down anywhere online or in stores near me. Every website I’ve been to that says via google search that they carry it ends up being a broken link, except for Dillards. When I tried to track these down in person I haven’t been able to find them anywhere, except the lip gloss tube looks JUST like the Clinique Pop Lacquer Lip Colour + Primer. This is so confusing to me but I know it’s a different product because it comes in completely different shades. Anyway, carrying on.
The lip and cheek glow is subtle and mostly sheer. It has a very fluid-like formula- as you can see below it was starting to come out of the tube in the 10 seconds it was sitting open on the table! The formula has safflower, jojoba, and sunflower seed oils that give it that slip. I’ve applied it to my cheeks and my lips and I’ve had success wearing it both ways. It’s not at all sticky on my lips, rather it has an oily consistency that seems to need a moment to settle. If you apply too much it can migrate slightly to the corners of the lips. I spread this on my lips with the wand applicator and the color seems more intense in some areas vs. others until I work it around for a moment. Once it is in place, it’s perfect! I did a wear test of this today while I was doing chores and it lasted probably two hours before I needed to reapply. At that point my lips were still moist but the color and shine were mostly gone.
The two shades I own are Nectar Glow and Rose Glow. I don’t think I’ll run out and buy more just because they are sheer enough to look really similar on my lips. I had to take a double take that I didn’t post the same picture twice here, but if you look closely, Nectar Glow is a touch more on the coral side and Rose Glow has a bit more of a berry hue.
I never took a picture of these on my cheeks but I like the way they wear there as well. Since the product is oily, it’s easy to spread around. I like to put some on my fingers and lightly tap it in the right place on my cheeks. It’s a touch more pigmented on the cheeks than it appears on the lips and once it’s on, it’s on. You can’t spread it very much because it sets fast.
I love how subtle and easy to wear these are. I picture easy makeup days this summer with some tinted moisturizer, the Clinique Pop Oil Lip & Cheek Glow on my lips and cheeks, and a bit of mascara and out the door I go. I LOVE makeup that is so easy yet makes me feel like a new woman when I put it on!
Are you going to pick these up? Have you seen them in stores anywhere?
