My holiday beauty budget is small this year but I did want to grab a few items that appealed to me. I’ve been really wanting to try the brand Ciaté London, and the Chloe Morello Beauty Haul Makeup Set was really speaking to me. The packaging is super fun and all the colors are so ME. I had to get my hands on it, so a few weeks ago I bought it and I’m glad I did because now it’s sold out! I still wanted to review it though, so if it comes back in stock hopefully this can help you decide if it’s for you or not.
This palette is heaven to me with the shades that are available. I am obsessed with matte and shimmery neutrals and purples, and that’s literally what this palette is to a T. LOVE. For $49 you are getting a 15 pan palette with all of these shades, a mini Wonderland Mascara in Black Magic, and a mini Liquid Velvet- Moisturizing Matte Liquid Lipstick in Pin Up. All of this comes in a surprising really nice vegan zipper pouch.
Pretty Fun and Fearless Eye Shadow Collection in Skinny Dip (light brown matte), Unconditional (fair terracotta matte), On Fire (burnt brown matte), Queen Bee (rich deep brown matte), Shine Bright (med bronze/brown shimmer), Vaycay (wheat shimmer), My Tribe (linen matte), Be Sassy (soft pink matte), Jet Setter (light rose matte), Happy (deep taupe shimmer), Dainty (pale fleshy peach shimmer), Fierce (cranberry shimmer), Flirt (cranberry matte), Day Dream (deep wine matte), Own It (rich purple shimmer)
I have mixed feelings about these shadows. They are absolutely gorgeous and super pigmented when I swipe them with my fingertips. The shadows are very creamy and blend easily. Almost too easily. I find when I am working with more than two colors at once and go to blend them that the shades all seem to blend together into one blur of color. I think if you’re mindful of this and realize you don’t have much blending to do, you’ll be happy with these shades. The matte shades tend to have long wear time, and the shimmers fade a bit over the span of the day.
Here are a couple swatches of some of my favorite shades. I love how intensely pigmented these are. The matte brows that appear in this palette are perfect for me too. There are a few different options and they got it just right with the shade ranges. One thing to note- they don’t go on nearly as pigmented with a brush as they appear on my fingertips.
The Wonderwand Mascara reminded me a lot of Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara. The brush is huge and will help you achieve dramatic lashes, but I found that the formula flaked on me by the end of the day.
The Liquid Velvet lipstick in Pin Up is described as a universally flattering berry. I thought it went on much darker on my lips than it appeared it would in the tube. It also appears to be more of a dark maroon than a berry on me. Nonetheless, I really like the shade and it’s perfect for fall! The formula took some getting used to. It’s matte but it still has some slip to it. As it was drying down on me I felt like I didn’t get an even distribution on my lips so I tried to even it out and it dried really patchy on me! It clung to all of my dry patches and was worn off in other places almost instantly. The next time I tried this I used my Sara Happ Lip Scrub first and it was a totally different story. It applied great! Your lips need to be in pretty good shape to use this and I also suggest using Anastasia Lip Primer first.
I’m really glad I tried this set. I was happy to be able to try so many new products for the price tag. When you break the prices down, you’re really paying drugstore prices to be able to try a bunch of new things. I’m wearing the set in the pictures below!
Is this set something you would pick up? What holiday gift sets are you buying this year?
