What is your favorite part of the holiday season?
In the past, I would say making Christmas cookies with my family. When I was little, we would make wreath cookies (cornflakes, melted marshmallows and green food coloring mixed up and made into a wreath shape- use redhots to decorate, no oven required, put them in the freezer!)
This year, without question, my favorite part will be seeing my family. We live very, very far away from everyone we know and nobody has met our baby daughter yet. I’m sure most people would answer this question with an automatic “family” answer, but we used to live very close to everyone so seeing everyone for a holiday wasn’t that different than any other day.
In the future, I would like to make the spirit of giving more a part of my holiday. I want to donate toys, give gifts to people who won’t get one otherwise, and volunteer my time to other places that focus on giving back to the community. It’s a lesson I want to teach my daughter and it makes me feel like a better person.
What is one of your family traditions?
We always decorate the Christmas tree the night of Thanksgiving!
Whats your go to polish or nail art design?
I don’t like wearing polish on my fingernails very often, but sometimes at Christmas I’ll wear red. I probably won’t wear any this year because we’ll be traveling and when it starts to chip it’ll drive me crazy if I can’t fix it right away, and I can’t be bothered. For toes, probably red, if it even crosses my mind to change my polish before Christmas.
What holiday(s) do you celebrate?
Just Christmas, but my cousin just married someone who is Jewish, so I’d love to see our family incorporate his family’s traditions into our Christmas routine too.
One thing you REALLY want for Christmas?
Channing Tatum in my stocking! Haha, just kidding. I honestly don’t really even care what I get for Christmas, I just want to see my family, and I want everyone to hold my baby while I sleep through an entire night for the first time in a long time.
Best gift you have received?
My aunts always get me the best jewelry for Christmas. My mom usually hooks me up too. Nothing’s really sticking out to me right now, but Christmas stopped being focused around gift giving for me after I was out of high school. I still really love getting gifts though 🙂
Where would you like to spend the holidays?
In Wisconsin, with my family, surrounded by a ton of food I didn’t have to make, with minimal snow for safe driving between our two families, and with the winning powerball ticket in my pocket!
Have you ever made a snowman, snow furniture, or a snow angel?
Yes, I used to make snow angels in my yard, and I loved making the snow tunnels underneath the huge pile of snow that would collect near our mailbox. When the snow plow would come by, that pile next to the edge of the driveway would get HUGE! Perfect for making snow tunnels. And snowmen were fun too. I can’t wait until my daughter is old enough to build a snowman. That sounds like a great calorie burner!
What is the weirdest gift you have ever received?
Probably a bag of already worn socks. Although, I did ask for socks, so I guess it wasn’t the worst gift ever, just a little strange that they were folded up and used already.
Whats your favorite holiday cookie?
My favorite is my aunt’s peanut brittle! Not a cookie, I know, but WAY too tasty. Maybe if she’s reading this she will make some extra to send home with ME!
I tag YOU!
