Today I want to introduce you to my absolutely favorite lip product as of lately. I know I always seem to have a new favorite, but believe me when I say these are a really standout product in my collection right now. I have been really drawn to a matte lip lately, and I am ALWAYS drawn to something that lasts, so naturally the Bite Beauty Matte Créme Lip Crayons are a total win for me.
The range of shades these are available in are darn near perfect. I think people of every skin tone will love the shades. Truffle and Cognac are on the deeper end of the range and while they are darker than something I would wear for every day, those with deeper skin tones will likely love them. There are also vibrant reds and pinks in this range as well as some great every day neutrals. Even the nude shades are really flattering on my fair skin and I have a really hard time finding a flattering nude color. I normally have to go a little more nude-brown or nude-pink if I don’t have to look washed out and Léché and Amaretto hook it up. There is something for every person and every mood!
Truffle- deep brown
Cognac- dark brown
Framboise- vibrant pink/purple
Brandy- muted raspberry
Fraise- jewel red
Amaretto- peachy nude
Léché- dusty pale pink
The pigmentation on these is incredible. You really only need one pass to get full opacity on your lips. The texture is also amazing. They are not drying like you would basically expect from a matte lippy. They have a bit of slip to them but they still don’t go anywhere. After wearing these all day my lips actually feel more hydrated despite these being matte! The wear time is literally all day, 8-10 hours, as long as you are not eating greasy pizza. I can drink a cup of coffee while wearing this and still maintain my lip color, which is pretty awesome. They have a slightly fruity taste to them which fades for me in just a couple minutes after application.
When I first got my hands on these, I was originally drawn to Aubergine as the perfect fall shade. You can see it below- it is SO pretty. Since then, I’ve picked up a couple more of these, and I think Sucré is my favorite now (not pictured here). There are now three that I don’t own- Glacé (dusty mauve), Tatin (rose pink) and Péche (warm peach). I am sure it’s only a matter of time before I acquire the rest! As you can see below, Aubergine (and the rest of the shades) are matte but have a bit of a sheen so they’re not totally flat.
If I had to choose a couple of negatives, here they are:
- They come with a pointed tip which will eventually round out and make it harder to make precise lines. Edited to add: they come with a built in pencil sharpener in the other end, so you can make them sharp again…woot!
- The price- $24 each is a bit steep, but they ARE water resistant, long wearing, formulated without parabens, sulfates, phthalates, polybutenes, sulfates, and petroleum byproducts. They are gluten free and made with food grade ingredients. It’s totally safe to kiss your babies in these. So, while the price is high, it’s not just your standard, run of the mill lip product.
- They’re addicting and you’ll want every shade that flatters you once you get your hands on one.
Have you seen these in store? Which shade appeals to you most?
