The Better Skin Co. Comes to Ulta!

PR SAMPLEAFFILIATE LINKS

I’m obsessed with trying new skincare and new brands in general. Just this morning, I was peeking through Sephora’s brand list online to see what was new and exciting over there. Ulta has some new brands too! The Better Skin Co. (currently available on their website, Dermstore, and Amazon) is coming soon to an Ulta near you!

I tried four of their products a handful of times each and wanted to give you my first impressions!

The Better Skin Co. Review

Zit No More is a zit zapper in a rollerball. It relies on natural skin soothers as well as salicylic acid to calm and get rid of pimples. The tea tree scent reminds me exactly of Burt’s Bees Herbal Blemish Stick that I used in high school! I’m not breaking out right now so I can’t attest to whether it works. But I do know that tea tree is great for getting rid of acne and rose hip is amazing for soothing!

Ingredients: 1% Salicylic, Tea Tree, Rose Hip, Tung Wood, Rapeseed, Vitamin E and Rosewood.

Epik C Serum is a super hydrating serum for skin tightening and reducing the appearance of fine lines. It’s impressive that they do it all with natural botanicals, plant based technology, and fruit extracts. I pick up on a slight lemon scent and the texture is thicker than what I was expecting. It’s very hydrating and I notice a difference in my skin if I apply 2-3 drops to my face before my moisturizer.

Ingredients: Water/Aqua/Eau, Glycerin, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C), Polysorbate 20, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Camellia Sinesis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract, Marrubium Vulgare Extract, Leontopodium Alpinum (Edelweiss ) Callus Culture Extract, Xanthan Gum, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Sodium Citrate, Allantoin, Panthenol, Borago Ocinalis Seed (Starflower) Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Brassica Campestris (Rapeseed)/Aleurites Fordi (Tung) Oil Copolymerontopodium Alpinum (Edelweiss ) Callus Culture Extract, Xanthan Gum, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Sodium Citrate, Allantoin, Panthenol, Borago Ocinalis Seed (Starflower) Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Brassica Campestris (Rapeseed)/Aleurites Fordi (Tung) Oil Copolymer, Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Oil, Phenoxyethanol (and) Ethylhexylglycerin, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Oil.

Better Skin Co. Lava Magik Review

Lava Magik has been my favorite find of the bunch. It’s a daily cleanser, exfoliating scrub and revitalizing mask. It has a cheery orange scent that wakes me up every time I use it! The formula is enriched with skin cleansing volcanic lava from France, nourishing calendula, sweet orange and grapeseed oils, cucumber, parsley, and chamomile. I put a small amount in my hands with a drop of water and I’m easily able to buff it into my skin and cleanse away the dead skin cells. It wakes my face up instantly with the whole experience of a good scrub and the invigorating scent of oranges!

Ingredients: Water/Aqua/Eau, Pumice, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Stearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Xanthan Gum, Potassium Sorbate, Iron Oxides (CI 77491), Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Carum Petroselinum (Parsley) Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract.

Mirakle Cream Genius in a Jar

Lastly, I really enjoyed trying Genius in a Jar Mirakle Cream. This recipe is imported from the Republic of Uzbekistan, and it’s handcrafted in the USA with ingredients such as coconut oil, sea buckthorn, shea butter, cocoa butter, aloe, and soothing algae. It’s an all-purpose cream with peptides and hyaluronic acid to help skin appear smoother, more youthful, and radiant. I’ve used this morning and night following Epik C Serum and I like it as a very simple moisturizer. It doesn’t break me out, it’s unscented, and doesn’t leave a greasy film on my face, yet it still keeps my face looking and feeling hydrated.

Ingredients: Water/Aqua/Eau, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract, Undaria Pinnatifida (Algae) Extract, Pisum Sativum (Pea) Peptide, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Seed Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (coconut oil and vegetable derived glycerin), Stearic Acid (vegetable origin), Cetearyl Alcohol (vegetable origin), Cetyl Alcohol (plant based), Ethylhexyl Palmitate (palm oil), Microcrystalline Cellulose (plant based), Phenoxyethanol (functions as a preservative), Ethylhexylglycerin (preservative/moisturizer), Cellulose Gum (plant based), Ordenone (scientific), Potassium Sorbate (preservative), Sodium Hydroxide (PH Balancer), Glycerin (plant based), Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin (plant based), Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 (collagen boosting peptide), Panthenol (plant based)  Sodium Hyaluronate  (plant based).

Final Thoughts

I appreciate the simple formulas and the no nonsense packaging. I like that many of the ingredients are naturally derived and I love that the packaging includes a small spatula that fits right into the lid. Convenience and sanitation all at once! Give this line a try if you are at Ulta.
