For my whole makeup wearing life, I’ve been really attracted to eyeshadow palettes. I love seeing the different shades next to each other. I love the color arrangements, and the different looks that can be made with each grouping of eyeshadows. But if I’m being honest? I typically only reach for two shades at a time, so I’d probably be just as well off reaching for eyeshadow duos!
I recently discovered what I would call my absolute favorite matte eyeshadow formula ever. I didn’t think they came this good. What makes them so awesome? They are amazing on my extremely sensitive eye area. Months ago I got some dermatitis on my eyes when I used a terrible skincare product. I had to go to the dermatologist and get some steroids but it hasn’t cleared completely. I am very careful about what I will put on my eye area now. If I use some of the fragranced palettes or even some of the other really high quality eyeshadows I own, I often end up with a lot of irritation. As a result, most of the time I’m reaching for one of these matte eyeshadow duos since they’ve given me no issues at all with sensitivity.
They’re also very highly pigmented and I love the color selection. I’m really into matte shadows and there’s a healthy range of color in these whether you are looking for neutrals or something a little brighter.
I’ve been seriously obsessed with these @osmosis_skincare matte eyeshadow duos. They are silky, smoothing and the nicest and most pigmented matte eye shadows I’ve ever tried. They perform beautifully on sensitive skin as well. I’ll be covering them on the blog soon- stay tuned. #beauty #makeup #skincare #love #favorite #bblogger #bbloggers #osmosisskincare
L-R: Truffle Cream, Sienna Dusk, Crimson Cream, Chocolate Brulée, Mystic Mulberry
Crimson Cream, Sienna Dusk, or Truffle Bliss are all great for a softer, more natural daytime look. Mystic Mulberry and Chocolate Brulée are awesome choices for something a little more intense. Chocolate Brulée is my absolute favorite shade and I’ve been wearing it every day! With my brown eyes, fair skin, and darker features this really makes my eyes pop. The formula is creamy, richly pigmented, and very long wearing. I do find myself needing to wear an eyeshadow primer when I wear these for the longest lasting wear. With a primer, this lasts me flawlessly until it’s time to wash my face at the end of the day.
My friends who have very basic needs in makeup tend to skip eyeshadow altogether or wear one shimmery nude shade across their entire lid. For that purpose, I wanted to share some quick tips for applying this if your needs are simple but you want to try a matte eyeshadow duo. If you are applying a matte lid shade on your whole lid (sometimes I do a shade that matches my skin color) I would first put down a primer like Urban Decay Eden that has a neutral base that is pigmented enough to cover any veins or discoloration in your lids. Then I would use an eyeshadow brush like one of these below to apply a color to your whole lid.
If you’re doing a look that requires some blending, you need a fluffy brush. I use this to diffuse any darker shade in my crease whether I’m doing a smoky eye or an eyeshadow look that utilizes more than one shade.
I made a quick chart for you to visualize a few super easy ways to wear matte eyeshadow if you have a duo that you want to use. I think you’ll find it really easy! And these duos by Osmosis are a great place to start!
Which of these duos appeals to you most? I’ll be replacing my Chocolate Brulée ASAP- it’s my most loved shade of the range and it’s already taken a tumble onto the tile floor in our bathroom. My second favorite is the Crimson Cream! Tell me your favorite in the comments!
Oh, and also! Dermstore often carries this brand and many others at 20% off.
